I know that wondering about the "what if's" is always a slippery slope to go down...

BUT, you have to wonder what could have been if she hadn't have been injured this year. She would have gained an additional season of experience as a primary rotation player (if not starter) and would have had a much better chance to compete for minutes next year against this and next year's highly-touted underclassmen.

Edit: If I were in her position I would have felt pretty insulted by the story Geno told about why Paige smacked him on the ass after Makurat's made three pointers. As he told it, essentially he had no confidence in her because she hadn't made any recent shots and had to be persuaded by assistants and Paige to put Makurat in the game at all. It's one thing to have those frank discussions privately, but another for your coach to publicly tell the media that he doesn't have confidence in you anymore. And then for it to become a national joke because Paige slapped Geno on the ass. If I were Makurat, the whole thing would have made feel pretty shitty.

(Yes, I know, I'm a snowflake and Geno's "tough love" and "unrelenting honesty" are what make him a "great coach"... 11 NC's, yada yada ... please don't come for me UConn fans Rolling Eyes )

With Boley ending her playing career and not going to the WNBA along with not returning to Oregon i can see Makurat fitting in well if she does decide to go there. I noticed her sister is also in the portal so this could be a packaged deal . Maybe South Florida ?

My only thought re: Oregon is, do they really need yet another 3-point specialist? Oregon's downfall at times this year was having too many players to know what to do with. (Of course, the injuries were another matter.) My opinion is moot here, but I would definitely root for a sister duo at South Florida Smile

Man-for someone that doesn't "hate" UCONN, you sure do have a wild hair up your ass up about us. There are transfers left, right, and center....but this is the one you've chosen to put a spotlight on?!?!

And your last point, you ALWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS have something to say about us, then when we do, "shoot back," you think we're the problem. Your UCONN fascination is constant, relentless, and just tired.

Sorry for my sarcasm. I meant my closing comment to mean, "I don't question that Geno's a great coach, but this is how that incident would have made me feel. Do you agree?" It's fine if you don't agree and I respect that. (edit: I felt defensive because there's this savior complex around Geno like there is for all extremely successful people--an idea that you can't criticize anything because the ends justify all of the means. And in Geno's case, the ends are pretty good Wink but I try not to succumb to the savior complex.)

Looking back at this thread alone, I've discussed plenty of other transfers at length Smile (it's not just UConn obsession). The ass slap story happened to be on my mind because Makurat's announcement was just this morning, and I heard what Geno said about the incident because I actually watched his press conference since it happened while they were playing my own team Smile And because ESPN slammed it down our throats showing replays of it so often since it was perceived as funny.

No need to name call. I'm just a depressed person missing the season and hungry for player news and eager to discuss some opinions on things, however skewed they are.

(edit: and, you're right, as someone who complains about UConn noise, I could do a better job tuning it out lol. But in this case, an athlete on a final four team who got significant playing time spread across her two years, that's genuinely newsworthy.)

Kylie Feuerbach of Iowa State is transfering. She was part of a trio of freshmen guards who started almost every game for them this year. I think she got less playing time on average than Lexi Donarski and Emily Ryan, but she was still an important part a the team that was essentially one shot (or foul call) away from a Sweet 16 berth this year. Curious where she'll end up. That said, I'm in favor of anything that weakens Iowa's biggest in-state rival Twisted Evil

I knew she hadn't declared for the draft, but I hadn't heard she ruled out another year at OR.

UCLA asked the NCAA to allow Izzy Anstey to play in Australia as if she had not enrolled yet until she can make it in the country. I guess that was granted because she played for her father at McKinnon recently.

I would assume that current players are not covered on any level so if Lily Scanlon plays for the Eltham Wildcats as announced, I guess that means she is not returning to Gonzaga and also not planning to transfer within the NCAA.

NC State movement:

C Jada Rice grad transfer out (only a redshirt sophomore):
F Elle Sutphin rEdshirt FR transfer to Davidson
W Rebecca Demeke FR transfer out
G Dontavia Waggoner FR transfer out

Word is that Diamond Johnson (Rutgers) and Madison Hayes (Mississippi State) are transferring onto the WolfPack.

According to Raoul, Kai Crutchfield and Kayla Jones are both coming back, as well. If this is true, and the transfers can play right away, they'll be loaded.

Diamond Johnson needs to think twice , or can she play along side Perez ? Pretty small back court , but who knows ?

I would've thought Johnson would end up at Syracuse. I don't know why, but I just would have.

still haven't heard if Anna Wilson is coming back for another Tree year. It seems she didn't declare for the draft so....it would be HUGE for us if she plays another year. She was one of our most important pieces this year even if never in the spotlight...except as Russell's sister.

Taylor Chavez and Jaz Shelley both leaving Oregon. I guess they realized they were never going to be starters in Eugene.
