I hope it’s obvious to the Dreamthey need to upgrade the SF position.

They've started Tiffany Hayes at the 3 for entire seasons before; I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to that again.

PG: Carter/Sims
SG: CWill/SWK, Turner, or Davis
SF: Hayes/Stricklen
PF: Parker/Billings
C: EWill/Hawkins/Brown

And even then, barring any trades (this roster still looks a little overcrowded to me), it looks like they'll be picking a SG or SF. Could be Rennia Davis. I could also see them picking Arella Guirantes or Chelsea Dungee and just playing either of them at the 3.

How'd the Dream do, in those seasons?

-agree that playing Tiffany Hayes would not provide a different result!

I like Renia Davis, or maybe Jazmine Walker since she is taller and a better rebounder than Dungee or Guirantes. I don't know how well she handles the ball though.

Guirantes would be an interesting pick here , her size though worries me for a SF . Davis or Dungee would make more sense , but overall Guirantes will probably be the better player in 5 years of the 3 .

All those guards who love to have the ball in their hands fighting for it. Can't wait to see that live

I’m so confused as to why there wasn’t a SF pick for this team.

Laughing Laughing agree.
Maybe she starts Aari, Carter, Hayes, C.Will, and Sims. Whoever gets the ball on defense just drives and scores or gets fouled and goes to the line. Who needs a big on the floor anyway! Wink Cool Very Happy

Tiffany Hayes was very impressive in the Eurobasket final games. I have revised my opinion and will now be excited to see her in the lineup.

I also saw some earlier games with Kalani Brown. She was effective but still not quite WNBA fitness level.

Possible Lineup:

G1: Carter/McDonald
G2: CWilliams/Sims
Wing: Hayes/Strickland/SWK
P1: Parker/Hawkins
P2: EWilliams/Billups or Brown

Hayes has been amazing overseas - should have been MVP but Stewie was on the winning team....Hayes did not play last year, and the year before was the year of Angel being Angel - did not play, had to keep her on the Cap, no time was given to find a replacement in the month leading to the season, then more injuries along the way.

Tiffany, Odyssey, Courtney, Chennedy and now Aari make for a formidable back court. People dismiss what Cheyenne and Tianna bring to the table - will create amazing spacing. People have the Dream low in rankings, but I feel this team will surprise....

"Angel being Angel"

Weird way to talk about the best thing that's ever happened to your li'l team, but okay. #HateHard Approved!

I think one thing helped her a lot in the final game at least - the Vanderquigs were the first line of defense. But yeah - she looked like all world there going against the Russian WNBA All Star Team.

pilight, that Cal player they signed to camp Mikayla Cowling is basically DiDi Richards before she became who she was at Baylor. At Cal, Cowling was a true perimeter player, great distributor, great defender, long arms, athletic, and not much of a scorer but still has a 3PT shot.

This team has the potential to be better than last year for sure. They've gotten stronger in the post and Hayes coming back is a big plus. They've got lots of scorers so it will somewhat depend on how well they can all meld together as a team.

Is this a setup for Renee Montgomery?

Or maybe another position for a failed college coach. Razz

Agreed. Perhaps the new owners didn't like the 'gaggle of guards' direction Sienko & Co. was taking them. Razz And maybe that would include the drafting of Aari McDonald in the Lottery...

I'm guessing this means that 2021 is officially a make-or-break year for Nicki Collen.

If you're ownership and you're that convinced that it's the wrong pick, you overrule the GM. My guess is that it's more relevant that there was an ownership change a couple of months ago, than that there was a draft last week.

I’m sure Collen is plenty smart enough for the job, but this would be a great spot for Maya to step in and really give the organization a PR boost.

Most presidents/GMs know that with ownership changes comes the likelihood of your dismissal.

Owners want to be able to bring in their own people to shape their investment to their vision. Same reason that when new GMs are hired the current coach ends up immediately on the hot seat.
