Curious as to everyone's thoughts on who's got next? What current W assistant, college coach or assistant, or former player is ready to lead a team in the W?

Klop will get another shot.

Brandi Poole might get an offer.

Tonya Edwards would be interesting.

Klop is well qualified, but does he even want a HC job. He seems to have said it wasn't that important to him anymore. He also won the championship as HC (albeit and interim one).

The difference between the team's performance under him compared to Quinn is striking

It’s not the same team.

I predict someone different will be in charge in Seattle next season.

Exactly. Who had us repeating this season (or even Top-2) before it started – before Hughes retired?

After not even one full season (which we haven’t even completed yet), we’re just gonna change course like that & get rid of her? Or Quinn’s just gonna magically decide she’s in over her head? 🚨Hot take alert🚨, unless of course you know something we don’t. 👀

Just a prediction, nothing more. As Sgt Schultz said on Hogan's Hero's, "I know nothing"

I agree completely and think Brandi Poole gets a head coaching job soon. Eric Thibault might get a head coaching job someday. I don't know if a team is willing to offer Katie Smith another head coaching job.

The problem now is many of the best candidates have opportunities in the NBA today (Becky Hammond, Kara Lawson, etc.)

I don't think they'll pull the plug on Quinn this soon. (They did extend her contract mid-season, though that was before the post-Olympics slump.)

My impression is the coaching is alright. The issues I have with the coaching have largely been regarding rotations, and the coach has been hamstrung by our highly suspect roster moves. Our weaknesses were obvious all season: if we lost a point guard or post we're doomed. Yet none of the signings have shored those positions up and instead filled the bottom 1/3 of the roster with charity cases.

So my prediction is Quinn stays but this is going to be a very interesting offseason with so many FAs and a suspect GM.

(Sorry this ended up a bit of a storm rant that should probably have gone in the storm thread.)

Quinn will be fine. Her inexperience has been showing down the stretch but she'll get through it.

I think Eric Thibault needs a bit more time as an assistant, and maybe some time with his dad not right over his shoulder. (Even when he was a grad assistant at St. John's, his parents were at games.)

Is there any reason Olaf Lange hasn't been given a shot? Isn't he the head coach of UMMC? I feel like assistant coaching for the slightly underperforming Sky doesn't make him a hot commodity in the W, though.

For Seattle I’m not gonna judge their slightly worst performance. Clark and especially Howard are huge losses. Even trios as talented as Stewie, Bird, and Loyd need teammates to play hardnosed, take the tough defensive assignments, and do all the dirty work. Something both Clark and Howard excel at.

We'd never hear the end of it every time he and Brondello coached against each other.

OMG not you coming in with the receipts Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

We lost arguably our biggest three role players, but several distinct entities really just thought it'd be business as usual for us? That seems a bit... disrespectful, to the other contenders whose rosters changed much less from '20 to '21 (to the other teams in general, perhaps).

But yeah I agree with you, I think Quinn will be fine. I actually liked how noticeable her rotation switch-ups were in her first few games. She has had good games (games where we don't necessarily notice her coaching, per se) and bad games (games where we do), and imo she's ultimately not why we've faltered down the stretch. Assuming the Storm bow out at some point in these playoffs, we'll regroup and see how she puts her own stamp on the team after a full offseason as Head Coach aka a central figure in personnel direction.
