You can't fire unpaid interns, the Commissioner's grandkids, or the janitor.......

Every time I hear that the commissioner will be announcing the picks from a "remote location" it makes me think she's in some secret bunker in the middle of nowhere...

Oh, I thought it meant the recliner she sits on in-front of the television where she keeps her remote.

They are sticking to the two hour format this year? Even with nothing else on?
I am looking forward to them cramming the last 24 picks into 48 minutes, 12 of which are spent in commercials breaks. |

Ugh, the fact that that's exactly what's going to happen is already killing my Draft vibe. God, this league makes itself soooo hard to support most times.

Daily Draft Check-In with Holly Rowe: College Basketball and WNBA sideline reporter Holly Rowe began her “12 Days to the Draft” daily check-in on Sunday, April 5, on Twitter, during which she chats with draft picks, in no particular order. Interviews include: Bella Alarie, Te’a Cooper, Lauren Cox, Crystal Dangerfield, Kiah Gillespie, Tyasha Harris, Sabrina Ionescu, Ruthy Hebard, Satou Sabally and Megan Walker. |
|
Based on how that's written, it looks like these are the players the League would've invited to the Draft this year had it been in normal format.
We gonna do that thing where we guess/make a poll about who amongst this group will be the last to hear their name called? The honorary Pointer-Blackmon Award? just for old times' sake.
I see Chennedy Carter weirdly isn't included as one of the interviewees, whatever that means (though maybe they did ask her and she declined? Idk). I guess she'd automatically be the clear-cut "Party Crasher" of this Draft, cuz which GM would dare take someone else who wasn't in this group over an available Carter??

From the Coaches' Conference Calls:
Q. I was asking about UConn's Crystal Dangerfield
and where you think she ranks among the available
point guards and how her game will translate.
CHERYL REEVE: I think Crystal will be the point guard
taken after Ty Harris more than likely. I think Crystal is
probably looking at, in the right situation, having the
opportunity to be a reserve player in our league as she
develops, and I think she's got some good qualities.
She can defend. Obviously, she can shoot the three,
comes from a great program, so I think all those things
would allow her to get the opportunity probably later in
the first round, and if it's the right situation and there's
opportunity in terms of a roster spot, she seems like
somebody that could make the most of an opportunity.

Winsidr will be putting on a live stream reaction show during the draft for patreon subscribers along with a post-draft live stream discussing the whole draft and what happened for the public. Both live streams expect multiple guests from players and coaches to W reporters. I hope you all can tune in.
The stream will be on youtube and Winsidr will tweet out the link the day of.

The coaches especially are really boring and PC. But in general, I'm having a hard time getting excited about the draft even though I think the top players will be good longterm in the W. Maybe it's just this virus thingie making me numb.

For me, I think it's a combination of the lack of an NCAA tournament and my belief that we are unlikely to have a WNBA season. Hard to get excited about a draft when nothing leads up to it and nothing is going to come after it.

I can sympathize with wnba.com not wanting to do a prospect list. They do 60 or so names and wind up missing 1/3 of the draftees. They'd never get them all. I've got 122 names on my list of potential draftees and I guarantee there will be some players selected who aren't on it.

So is it fair to update the draft order now with the Tina trade announced ?
Im satisfied we still have picks 2/5/7 a chance for 3 impact players from this draft.
