FINAL GAME - New Orleans LA

Oregon swept through to the finals with no serious competition. In the semis the Ducks beat Baylor 23-5. That was their "closest" win all tournament long.

South Carolina had only a little more difficulty, winning every game by at least 67%. In the semis the Gamecocks beat Louisville 20-8.

The game features Player of the Year Sabrina Ionescu versus Freshman of the Year Aliyah Boston.

The last time these two teams faced each other was on Thanksgiving 2002. In that game Jocelyn Penn led the Gamecocks with 24 points to beat the Ducks 67-40. Andrea Bills led the Ducks with 10 points while future WNBA player Catherine Kraayveld was held to 6. (Of note, ESPN incorrectly shows the final score as 64-40) No word on whether Aliyah Boston was in attendance. The game was on her home island of St Thomas, Virgin Islands, but she was still 2 weeks from her first birthday.

The voting will be cut off at 5 PM PDT on Monday, April 6.

And I spent so much time researching the game from 2002. I guess I should have looked at a calendar too. Thanks for the correction. I've changed the post.
