Tough second quarter for the Bears. They went down 29-14 as ASU dominated all phases. Call made a small run at the end of the half to get within 8.

Starting the tourney off with a BANG! Cal could be this tourney's Cinderella team, though I'm sure Arizona still ain't happy that Cal stole a win on their home floor not too long ago Still, it could be another good matchup for Cal.

I don't understand why the UW coaches haven't used Griggsby a lot more this season. I don't know how injured she's been, but she's the only player other than Melgoza that has both the quickness to get herself open and the ability to make shots from anywhere on the floor. And she utilizes her long arms defensively. But she's appeared in most of the games, and now all of a sudden she's getting real minutes? Add that to the list of things I don't understand about our team. Knowing that they wanted Griggsby to redshirt her first year but couldn't afford that luxury to do so bodies-wise, up to this point, I'd consider her college career to be squandered.

"They've just not been able to make shots" is UW WBB in the Jody Wynn era.

Watkins with another neck/head injury. I love what she brings to the team, but I hope for her own sake that she considers medically retiring due to her concussion history.

Utah wins 72-63. UW blew yet another halftime lead. Melgoza's 30 isn't enough. Washington state-native Maxwell again killing the Huskies, finishing with 17 including a perfect 5-5 from 3. Utah has youthful talent, plenty of shooters, and what looks to be a bright future.

Meanwhile for UW, Melgoza's college career is now done, with only her own numbers to show for it - though sadly not even good enough for a stateside pro career. Along with Henson and Garcia being gone, Mike Neighbors' stamp on the program is officially gone (well, Rooks was a Neighbors recruit, but obviously she re-recruited to Wynn during the switchover).

As it stands now, unlike Utah, we have no point guard talent and maybe one shooter in Peterson. Her and the aforementioned Griggsby though will be seniors next year, and their on-the-court leadership alone won't be enough. Freshman Quay Miller has the highest ceiling, but of course she was a top-ranked talent, so she might consider transferring somewhere else with a better system for her that can utilize her strengths better (she has no business taking 3's every game, for example). I hope that doesn't happen, but I wouldn't blame her. The pile of questions that surrounds this program might be the biggest its ever been since The Coaching Change.

Unless our incoming recruiting class is our best since the Neighbors days, we might not even get back to 13 wins. I'd love 15, but am expecting much closer to 10 and back to being a double-digit seed in the tourney next year.

Welp, great tournament, but I'm out. Hopefully for the conference's sake, Oregon wins everything.

Missy Petersen had a very bad game. The Huskies fell apart when Melgoza got taken out after her 3rd foul.

USC and Colorado tied at 32 at the half. USC ran out to a 16-6 lead but has not looked good since. Pili has 11 points vut has not shot well from the outside.
