Late night Friday game, three day weekend, and Valentine's day....not going to get a big crowd.
UCLA doesn't have a big crowd either tonight. They are down big at the half against Oregon. |
I'm here at the game and the crowd is actually one of the best all season. UCLA fans who don't normally follow w. basketball have been talking about it all week.

Oregon St is losing after 3 quarters to USC 51-45. How far the Beavers have fallen, once being looked at as a #2 seed in the NCAA, it now looks like they may not even host. |
I was thinking the same thing. Also, if you are USC, and you are hosting one of the top ranked teams, shouldn’t you have more fans in the stands? It looks pretty empty in there! Plus, the male announcer is extremely annoying! |
USC 72 Oregon St 66 Final
Unfortunately USC (and for that matter UCLA) do not draw for women's basketball.
As for Oregon St, this loss drops the Beavers to 7-6 in the Pac 12, with UCLA and Stanford coming up. |
OrSU lost two starting posts. They were doing ok after the first one (Corosdale). Hard to overcome that second one (Brown) especially so late in the season. They may still rally and figure it out. I see that Morris, who I think has also been out injured, played a few minutes tonight so maybe they can figure out how to use her.

Shocking (to me because I thought she would just redshirt and Tara has been carefully not answering questions about why she was out) Dodson played some for Stanford tonight. She could be big for us if she's healthy.

UCLA drew well tonight so not sure what y'all are talking about. And as I mentioned, USC never draws well except for the rivalry game. I doubt anyone here would want to deal with the traffic getting there anyway.
On another note, USC has improved. Their freshmen are strong and have gained experience. Pili is a beast so it doesn't surprise me they beat OSU.

Marquette has a big game tomorrow as they host Butler. MU sits alone in 2nd place in the BE at 10-4 while Butler is 1/2 game behind at 9-4. Butler was picked to finish 7th and Marquette 9th in the preseason Coaches Poll so it was not expected for both teams to be battling for 2nd place at this point. MU was without Selena Lott last night against Xavier - I sure hope she can play against Butler.
Someone on the BE site needs to proof articles a little better though:
Butler at Marquette, 3 p.m. (YouTube | Caffeine): In the preseason, no one predicted this would be a battle between first- and second-place teams in the standings in mid-February.
Yeah - it's not a battle between first and second place teams since DePaul is way out in front in the BE.
DePaul remains way out in front in the BE at 13-1 and hosts one of the worst treams in the BE tomorrow in Xavier for their senior day game. They finish the season at Georgetown, Villanova and Marquette.
All 5 BE games will be boradcast for free on the BE digital network tomorrow:

You should be. Texas was pitiful today. Even after they came back in the 3rd quarter and briefly took the lead at the start of the fourth, Kansas pulled away to win by 15, 82-67.

UConn improves transcendentally on its 2 point first quarter against S. Carolina and scores 13 against S. Florida, to lag 13-19. |

I wonder if part of the problem is that the opponents now understand they actually have a chance so don't come out resigned to being blown out.

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to actually see Dodson back on the floor for Stanford. I now feel like we have a real post rotation. They're not great, but are pretty competent.

ONO looks fine against teams with no big posts.

Aw dang, Alabama got HOSED at the end of overtime vs UGA in Athens. It looked VERY CLEAR from the replay that the UGA player had the ball in her hand when the shot clock hit 0. Refs didn't agree and kept the clock at 0.5 instead of 3.5. But Alabama did a great job fighting back after a lot of early turnovers. I just hate the refs decided this instead of players. But we all know that WCBB Refs are not what's known as stellar.

Ratcheting up their execution to mediocre, the Huskies pull ahead at the 3Q, 46-41. |

Colorado just can’t catch a break against Stanford. Wow. Epic game to be at purely for the ending.
