A giant of comedy entertainment. When comedy was comedy. Apolitical and from the point of view of an ordinary man. Not from the perspective of a lecturing, hectoring elitist making so-called fun of inferiors.
Carl Reiner was among the foremost of the unprecedented writing crew that supported Sid Caesar's TV shows in the 1950's, including Woody Allen, Neil Simon, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart, Selma Diamond, Howard Morris, Joe Stein and Mel Tolkin.

Watching Concentration was my daily staple of television. I did better at solving the puzzles than most contestants. He was one of my favorite hosts. Naya Rivera, Pioneering Glee Star, Is Presumed Dead at 33

Naya Rivera, the singer and actor best known for playing the acid-tongued cheerleader Santana Lopez on Glee, is presumed dead from a suspected boating accident in Lake Piru, California. On Thursday, July 9, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced that its missing person search had turned into a recovery mission, and that “investigators believe Rivera drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident.” She was 33.
On Wednesday, Rivera took her four-year-old son, Josey, out on a rental boat in Los Padres National Forest, about an hour northwest of Los Angeles. When Rivera did not return in the allotted three hours, concession workers went looking for her, and found the boat drifting with her son asleep on board, officials said. Rivera’s son told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the lake, and while he got back in the boat, Rivera did not. An unused adult-sized life vest was found on the boat.

For those of you curious about his seat in congress, under Georgia state law the Democratic party has until Monday afternoon to name a replacement. Otherwise his name remains on the ballot. There will also be a special election to fill the remainder of his current term. The governor must announce the date of the special election within 10 days.
The Republican in the race is Angela Stanton-King; an author, publisher, reality TV star, and convicted felon.
