Considering it’s a south Louisiana tradition, King Cake is remarkably free of flavor. Every one I’ve ever had was pretty bland. Don’t think you’re missing much

When I worked in the horse racing industry The Fairgrounds used to send a King Cake to all it's simulcast sites. It is like a danish ring and goes real good with a cup of coffee. Like a box of Crackerjack there was a prize baked in it somewhere.

Here in Pennsyltucky, The PA Dutch serve fried dough called Faschnachts on Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras). Flavorless. Razz
