Pretty much any time one of those circumstances you mentioned has occurred, the school will say "personal" issues. In the article, it mentions a "personnel" issue. Big difference.

I understand the difference. I still think it's possible that it's an illness or other personal issue. I also read the part where "personnel" was quoted from something a spokesperson "said." Given that it was a verbal communication without clarification, I think it's possible the reporter mis-heard or misused the word. IOW, we have no idea.

Maybe this hire combines what was previously two positions? Page 1 has two Maryland openings for support staff. One is just director of scouting, the other opening is for player personnel. Maybe player personnel = player development and they won't hire an extra person? Looks like a lot of schools cutting back on hiring

Yeah not sure if they will still hire other spots they had last year but they lost Sean Ehlbeck, who was Director of Scouting. He is at UT-Arlington as AC and Kaili McLaren was Director of Recruiting/Player Personnel. She is now an AC at UC-Santa Barbara.
