What horrible news. NBA legend gone too soon. Prayers for his family.

I hope his daughters weren't on board, too. Conflicting reports are saying at least one of his daughters were on board, too.

It was just confirmed that neither Kobe's wife or any of his daughters were on board.

Yeah, I'm watching that story too. ABC in LA is saying they were, but other outlets have said they definitely weren't.

I'm praying that they weren't (though sadly that still leaves tragedy for those individuals' families).

I know people have conflicted feeling about him, but man this is sad. I really hope that his kids weren't on board, so far they've only confirmed that Vanessa wasn't. Heartbreaking.

The NBA has canceled all games for today. ESPN2 is airing the news coverage of the crash. The Oregon vs. Oregon St game at 4pm has been moved to ESPNews.

Seems like the news coverage should be on ESPNews, but whatever

Rockets-Nuggets just tipped off, so clearly someone got their wires crossed on that report. Lots of stuff floating around out there at the moment; careful what you believe.

The 4:00 games are going as planned. Too difficult to clear already filled arenas. No announcement about later games as yet.

Yeah, lots of hearsay right now. This includes ABC saying earlier that his daughters were on board.

I’m seeing it confirmed that his 13 year old daughter was also on board.

Yes. His 13 year old Giannis was also onboard.

Lord, please give Vanessa and her three surviving daughters the strength.

He was on the way to a travel basketball game with his daughter. The other victims were another parent and his daughter.

Don't understand why the NBA didn't cancel all games today. Hard to imagine these players, especially the vets, being able to play today.

Yeah. I'm hearing a lot of "play for Kobe" and "Kobe would want the games to go on" and I agree with all that in the abstract. That definitely fits with Kobe's personality and his love of the game, and there is an eloquence to honoring him in such a way.

Except it ignores the human factor. That these games are played by human beings with human emotions and they were just given a gut shot--some of them who knew him personally or were close to him, a devastating one. The idea that this can all just be put aside because Kobe loved the game so much and wouldn't want to be the cause of it stopping isn't realistic. Give the players a beat. Give them a chance to wrap their minds around this and process it, and then go out and "play for Kobe".
