(Moved my comment to the Storm thread cuz I realized Myrtle wrote that she intended for this thread to be for pure information and for commentary to take place on team threads & not this one. Embarassed Sorry, Myrtle!)

Oh, so it ended up being a trade. The initial tweet gave incomplete information.

Alisha Valavanis being a cr*ckhead again with another bad trade with Connecticut. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes If it weren't for Dan Hughes' affinity for Howard (to which I give him the bulk of the credit), I'm not sure we would've had a single good trade under her management, jfc. Connecticut finessed us lmao.

I'm not sure it's a bad trade if Tuck is better now than anyone we would have gotten in the draft. You have to wonder if Magbegor is staying out another year though.

Better players than Tuck are cut in training camp every year. She's really milking the UConn thing as hard as possible (good for her)

Perhaps Toliver was concerned the league wouldn't approve her getting full pay from the Wizards if she re-signed with the Mystics

That's a good point. I'm guessing she must've discussed this beforehand with management and that's why they didn't core her.

The rule was basically written so that Toliver could get whatever an assistant in her position in an NBA job should be getting. I think you're hearing hoofbeats and thinking zebras.

I think a more likely scenario, for example, was the Mystics came to Kristi and said "Hey, we've given you these extra opportunities, and you're getting older, and you were hurt for some of last season, and we're pretty tight to the cap, and this is your hometown - how about 120k for two years? Oh Emma and Elena, yeah, we're giving them everything." And Kristi, rather understandably, said "I just finally got you over the hump and won this franchise its first ever title, and before I got hurt I was the best guard in the entire damn league - get fucked."

If they were being too cheap on Toliver then Thibault got what he deserved. He might be scrambling now, since they were already on the thin side at facilitating guard.

I hope that wasn't the conversation. Maybe Kristi said "I'd really like to have a 3-year deal at max veteran salary. I'm going to test the free market." Thibault said, "Good idea. Then let's talk." Then Kristi said, "Hey, LA will give me everything I want." And Thibault said, "We can't match that but how about a one-year or two-year deal?" And Kristi said, "Bye!"

What has to be weighing on Thibault's mind is that objectively the Mystics played better the last six weeks of the regular season with Cloud and Powers at point, during the time Toliver was hurt. Thibault might even have had in mind that Cloud would start and Toliver would come off the bench in 2020. Powers and Cloud will have to be re-signed next year, and their increased salaries could have handcuffed Thibault with regard to a 3-year deal for Toliver.

I hate to see Kristi go - she's been a favorite since Maryland days - but if she can do better for herself, then she has to do it. She's 33 and a 3-year deal with a top team at max salary is just too good to pass up I shed a little tear when I heard the news though.

I also wonder how much of her leaving LA to start had to do with Toler?

Maye the combo of Washington not giving enough to stay and no reason not to go to LA?

Where’s the link that shows Tiffany Mitchell being given an offer sheet, because I can’t find it.

Seems like toad is just reproducing this list, but nothing about Mitchell on there.

If this is true then Dallas has signed a bunch of posts players for 2020. Confused
So is Glory Johnson about to ride off into the sunset?
