Interesting articles - both mention that a Bay Area group (not the Warriors) was in talks to acquire the team to play at Oracle Arena. Seems that a Bay Area team has now been nothing but talk for 10 years.....

Note that this is the last time a WNBA team folded

That's a good thing. But then we also haven't seen expansion in over 10 years. Just the Shock relocating to Tulsa and then to Dallas. Plus the Stars relocating to Las Vegas. And a semi-relocation, the Liberty from Manhattan to Westchester to Brooklyn.

My thoughts exactly. At least there’s a bit more stability in the league amongst majority franchises. Positive P!!!

Still the darkest day in my sports fandom. I'd better not ever see anybody named Maloof in the street! #MFFL

Maloofs were terrible owners. Dumped the team to try and get a new arena deal. Then while being a terrible team(the Kings), the Maloofs; despite having DeMarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans & Isiah Thomas; ran the Kings into the ground. The Kings were sold to new ownership in 2013, Vivek Ranadive, which has brought up the possibility of returning the Monarchs to the WNBA.

I believe if the Monarchs were a "mud wrestling team" the Maloof would not have folded them.

Ranadive and Lacob have both teased the idea of bringing a team back to northern California. And I'm going to be completely honest, I'm not even going to pretend to give a fuck about a WNBA team based out of San Francisco.

The kings are not in SF. They are in Sacramento, which is where the old franchise was located. Via freeway Sac is not far from the North Bay area and it has been suggested that they play some games in the North Bay. Which might add to their total attendence.
I personally feel that the Sf area would not do that well attendance-wise for a WNBA team and the traffic would make out of the immediate area travel prohibitive. I would go to Sacramento but never to the SF area unless it was close to a BART station.

I can't tell whether you legitimately thought I didn't know this, or whether it is a complete non sequitur.
