OMG. That is absolutely awful, especially at her age. Crying or Very sad Best wishes for her recovery.

I had the same thing happen this past August. In the hospital for something else, and then found the blood clots. Found out I have a genetic mutation that predisposes one to getting them.

The good news is that blood thinner medication seems to be tremendously effective in terms of prevention. The bad news for her is that exercise has to be limited (at least in my case, it does) while the first round of treatment is ongoing. I am three months out from starting treatment and still haven't been released for strenuous exercise.
