Per ESPN, Harry Perretta plans to retire at the end of the season. It’s sad to think that a coaching legend will soon be sailing off into the sunset.
We shall forever member Villanova’s memorable win in 2003 over some Huskies.

To put the tenure of Harry in perspective, he started at Villanova the same year Jim Foster started at a crosstown rival, St Joseph's. In Foster's first year he had an assistant named Geno. A few years later he had an assistant named Muffet.
Note that at the time two of the top women's basketball programs in the country were Immaculata and Cheyney St, also programs out of the Philadelphia area.

Man-this sucks. We finally get back to the Big East and Harry retires.
1. Villanova, while boring to watch, was a tough out, and so fundamental. They had very few turnovers.
2. Has anyone ever heard Geno do his imitation of Harry coaching? Hilarious.
3. When EDD left UCONN, I always thought she would thrive at 'Nova.

I only see three D-I head coaches who were head coaches under the AIAW, and none of them are with the same team they coached when the NCAA took over:
C Vivian Stringer was at Cheyney then, Rutgers now
Tara Vanderveer was at Ohio State then, Stanford now
Chris Gobrecht was at Cal State Fullerton then, Air Force now
Only Andy Yosinoff, at D-III Emmanuel, remains in the same head coaching job as when the AIAW was in operation.
