usually I'm so 'up' for day one. this year it's like 'oh, yeah, so a few games are gonna get played...' ...maybe. And in truth I forgot today was the day. Shocked

And the Duke message board is down so I'll comment here.

GEE IT'S GREAT TO ROOT FOR DUKE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AGAIN!!

Duke looking good on defense and unexpected players stepping up on offense. DeJesus scores her first bucket! Jaida Patrick busting out with 6 pts after averaging 2 pts/game last season. Vanessa De Jesus keeps it going with 5 more pts.

It's been wonderful to see posts from former Duke players, excited about the beginning of Duke's #KaraEra today! They've been eerily silent for the past decade.

And Nwoke scores after establishing a good seal and nice footwork. Her off season weight loss and attention to conditioning is showing. She's still a big young woman!

With Boykin out (sore knee) DeJesus is running the point.

flipping around to various games. lots of examples of how not to wear a mask on the sidelines.

I love DeJesus, Raf. They already look better under Kara.

De Jesus is going to be a great player for Lawson, and she is the perfect coach for her. Their games ar so similar and even have similar releases on their jumpshot.

Agree!!! And how about Jaida Patrick! From 2 pts/game last season to 21 pts out of the gate.

Duke playing defense again. Real defense - not that junk called defense from yesteryear. The #KaraEra has begun!

South Carolina not experiencing much resistance from an out-manned College of Charleston, winning 119-38. Seven Gamecocks score in dbl-digits, and four of them racked up double-double efforts.

The next 3 games - South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Gonzaga - should be much tougher tests in Sioux Falls for the Women's Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic, beginning Saturday. The Coyotes battled the Gamecocks to the end in a tough game in Columbia, SC last season.....

We’ve been watching various games, men’s and women’s. I watched the Nebraska Omaha at Iowa State game, which was a lot closer at halftime than I expected it to be. Iowa State pulled away later, but it was an entertaining game.

stanford with nice balance in their game with Cal Poly incuding a nice game from our Frosh Brink...but she's gotta learn to shoot FTs. Haley Jones with a double double and overall the team shot 14-30 from 3. Satisfactory for a starter, even if it was against a weak team. Now if we can only stay healthy!

HOLY MOLEY!

I'm even badder than Myrtlicious....I totally forgot about opening games. I counted over 25 games either postponed or cancelled today. Yoicks.

I see the Big 12 had a great opening day: all wins, except where Oklahoma got beat up by Houston Shocked, and OK State got cancelled. K-State and wvu didn't play yet.

PAC 12 looked a little more mixed in results....with cancellations, too. Fingers crossed.

Best wishes to ALL for a good, HEALTHY season! Cool
