So which one of us are you trying to steal from. I think you have already fallen behind Myrtle.

Thanks for letting me know.

HA!
'Steal' from? IFF I were to indulge in such chicanery, it'd most certainly be from the likes of Matt or Adam, not you Mensches of Mediocrity. My recent descent into post-Myrtle status utterly dispels the thievery theory. But now, I realize I'd better get moving on my weekly picks! Shocked Razz

Pilight, making his usual late season run, won week 17 with 15 correct, including Duke over North Carolina on Sunday which provided the winning margin over Lynxmania. Every game had at least 2 players on each side, and unlike recent weeks, the popular side went 11-7 with 2 games split equally. For the season Calbearman and Adamj are now tied. Somewhat amazingly the two players disagreed on 11 of the last 13 games. So going into the last week the top 2 are tied, the bottom 2 are tied, and the blood feud between Myrtle and Howee has only 1 game separating them.

Best of luck to all in the final week.

Week 17 results:

1. Pilight ............. 15
2. Lynxmania ...... 14
3. Calbearman ... 13
4. Adamj ................ 12
5. Myrtle ....….. 11
6. Howee ..……. 10
7. Matt...……….... 9
7. Pureform …... 9
9. Summertime . 7
10. Hoopsmom. 4

Overall results:

1. Adamj …..…… 179 12 191
1. Calbearman.. 178 13 191
3. Pilight ……..... 170 15 185
4. Matt ................. 174 8 182
5. Lynxmania ........ 167 14 181
6. Myrtle ................ 167 11 178
7. Pureform ……. 168 9 177
7. Howee ……….. 167 10 177
9. Hoopsmom ... 164 4 168
9. Summertime.. 161 7 168

FINAL RESULTS

Week 18 was another difficult week where the players overall were under 50%, 97 of 200. Pureform was able to win the week with 12 correct, one ahead of Myrtle who was the only other player to get more than half right. There were 5 games where 9 of 10 people agreed on their picks with the consensus going 2-3. Matt was the only player to correctly pick Northern Iowa over Drake, Adam was the only player to correctly pick Southern over Texas Southern and Lynxmania was the only player to correctly pick Alabama A&M over Jackson St.

The overall race came down to the final Saturday and was decided on the Iona-St Peter's game. The Gaels ran out to a 39-24 lead after 3 quarters and maintained a 50-39 lead with 3:30 to go. But then the Peacocks displayed their fine plumage and ran off the last 16 points of the game to win 55-50. That was enough for Calbearman to win by 1 game over Adam.

Week 18

1. Pureform 12
2. Myrtle 11
3. Calbearman 10
3. Pilight 10
3. Howee 10
6. Summertime 9
6. Matt 9
6. Adam 9
6. Lynxmania 9
10.Hoopsmom 8

Overall

1. Calbearman.. 191 10 201
1. Adamj …..…… 191 9 200
3. Pilight ……..... 185 10 195
4. Matt .............182 9 191
5. Lynxmania .....181 9 190
6. Pureform ……. 177 12 189
6. Myrtle ...........178 11 189
8. Howee ……….. 177 10 187
9. Summertime.. 168 9 177
10. Hoopsmom ...168 8 176

Thanks to everyone for playing. I think our collective difficulty just shows how crazy and competitive this season was for everyone.

Hmph! Now, I'm convinced that Myrtle cheated. Again. Evil or Very Mad No, no Russian intervention this time....perhaps something Coronavirus-ish. "Rigging" is such an ugly word, but.....wait....CAL won??? And Myrtle (conveniently) won the Fantasy League?? Shocked Shocked Hmmm.....
Laughing Laughing
Okay. Nasty Politics aside: THANK YOU, Cal for all your work. It really was a fun, roller-coaster season; I don't remember so MANY games that really were too close to call, with outcomes determined in close overtimes, underdogs wreaking havoc, etc.

So my crystal ball is cloudy. Also I missed a week and a bit. But it was fun! Thanks all for the work!

Thanks for your work bearman.

Thanks to Howee for making me feel like at least I accomplished SOMETHING even if my ouija board needs a major renovation before next season. (ie I sucked!)

True. Maybe we could do a smaller slate of games each week....could that help?

That was my thought as well. Some possibilities -

1) Conference specific games (all games) for any conferences where there will be at least 5 players.

2) A game starting January 1 once we have a sense of how much of the season might actually played.

If anyone likes either of these ideas state your interest in this thread. There are conferences that start as early as next week.

All plausible, imo.

In one sense it doesn't really matter if five games on the slate aren't played a particular week since everybody is in the same boat. There's still 15 games to win or lose. It just means there won't be exactly the same # of games every week.
