Paraguay's tallest player is 6-0. I enjoyed traveling there because I was suddenly above average height (at 5-5).

Oregon State has a 6/9" player from Paraguay. Wonder why she isn't playing for the national team.

Looks like a heart condition and injuries.

Andrea Aquino, the ballyhooed freshman 6-9 center from Paraguay who redshirted last season due to an unspecified heart condition, continues to be a question mark. In June, Aquino wore a boot to protect what is believed to be a stress reaction in her left foot. She has not yet been given medical clearance to begin full basketball duties on the court.
"We're waiting word on that," Rueck says. "We're hoping for the best but preparing to be without her next season. That's really all we can do."
It will be a bonus if the sweet-shooting, athletic Aquino — the nation's No. 7 recruit a year ago — can play. If not, the Beavers are bringing on some remarkable young talent to fill the breech. |
She was brought to the US to play HS ball and was put in such deplorable living conditions, with no money or support that the authorities had to step in.

But Aquino's living situation deteriorated soon after she was brought to Paterson, according to coaches and the school report. She lacked spending money, health insurance, winter supplies and even women's sanitary items, the report and other sources said.
...
In the fall of 2015, officials from her high school filed a report to the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency (formerly the Department of Youth and Family Services). The report painted a grim picture of an emotionally distressed and helpless teenager, thousands of miles from home.
"Felix had problems in his household, and after that, that girl went from place to place," said a coach familiar with the events in Aquino's life that fall. "Nobody wanted to spend the money once she got here. That's room and board, she has to eat and that takes money. So these guys got her over here and then everybody dropped the ball on her." |

Paraguay getting to the free throw line a lot in the first quarter. Really their only form of consistent offense.

sorry, I'm not paying for ESPN+ ITM. This game is unlikely to be watchable anyway...

56-18 at half time. No need to be Ugly Americans. Let's at least have Katie Lou, and Sessions start the second half.

DeShields acting like she wants a spot on the Olympic team with her 20 pts and 8 ast.
I’m imagining Paraguay to be equivalent to an American high school team, and not one of the better ones.

She's in now - played about 2 minutes. Apparently, it takes about a 70 point lead in Q4 before she gets in the game.
