I know, I didn’t read the Smalls article because I didn’t want to see her hopefulness only for her to likely get cut.

Doyle the last cut? Unless Allemand ends up not coming?

I'm sure the Fever will wait until the last day for their final cut and to make sure Allemand is indeed coming over. Same for any other team with any foreigners. It should be Doyle, but could also end up being Laney.

Just one day after Stever was pimping Smalls’ readiness for the big league. Wink

So the unfair purging begins. I'm disappointed for Smalls, as I liked her more than Doyle. On that note, I think I even liked Jessica January more than Doyle. Rolling Eyes On paper, it looks like it's down to Doyle and Allemand for the last spot, which seems to mean that Allemand still plans on showing up. There's no way Doyle makes the team if that's the case imo, given Allemand's overseas experience (and probably superior talent anyway).

Smalls isn’t a PG. I’d compare her to EOgwumike.... pretty similar games, both at the mid-major level.

Doyle is the true floor general. Is feisty and shows a lot of heart. Definitely think she has a chance to stick.

It’s not a very balanced team, unless they’re thinking of using Laney as a backup post. She used to play post at Rutgers just like Copper did.

I could see Indy making a waiver wire pickup, like last year with Burke.

That’s why Laimbeer should be making a trade if there’s someone he’s interested in that may hit the waiver.

Anybody else noticing the similarities between Allemand and Doyle? The look, the passion, and I think their games are even similar.

I don’t believe Doyle has always been this buff, so I respect the work put in.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else, but it's a video called Rivals Reunited: Cash vs Catchings that is a mini-history of their competitive battles.

Mavunga will "rejoin" the Fever and has been removed for the temporary suspension list.

SG: KMitchell/TMitchell

As she should. I don't have much hope for Doyle, but there is a chance she could surprise and contribute. We already know that Laney gives you nothing.

Fever rookie Lauren Cox: Competitor, inspiration, ready to return basketball
https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/basketball/wnba/fever/2020/06/20/fever-rookie-lauren-cox-competitor-inspiration-read-return-basketball/3144036001/

Quote:
She developed the ability to adapt, adjust and thrive after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age seven. Now she's dealing with a global pandemic, but Cox's is uniquely prepared to hit the ground running once the WNBA resumes in late July.

Quote:
Navigating a global pandemic as a Type 1 diabetic takes added diligence. The eldest Cox's condition makes her more susceptible to the coronavirus, so even as businesses start to open up in Texas, the WNBA rookie has been creative when going about her daily fitness routine.

Quote:
Cox and her sisters do circuit training in her front yard, and run up and down hills near their house for cardio. If any sister doesn't feel like working out, the others encourage their sibling to continue grinding through the exercise.

Lauren said she's been able to get a consistent routine down after an early adjustment period to the pandemic, but one thing that is hard to replicate is actual on-court basketball against other players.

Quote:
Cox has impressive size, mobility and passing ability, but as a rookie, her place on the Fever is unknown. Second-year center Teaira McCowan is a budding star. Veterans Candice Dupree and Natalie Achonwa are capable of playing the 4 and 5 as well.

In order to take some attention away from McCowan in the post, Cox said first-year coach Marianne Stanley wants to utilize her passing and 3-point shooting to keep defenses on their toes. Utilizing Cox as a ballhandler is another way Stanley wants to use the former Baylor star to create mismatches.

It’s not sounding like Cox is taking the season off. I’d rate her as the most vulnerable player to the virus. Keep those N95 masks handy.

Doyle & Cox.

Cox ain’t afraid of no virus.

That coach or whatever is wearing a mask. I like seeing that.

Erica McCall is in the Fever's open training camp. She was waived by the team back on April 22. It was stated this was an "open run invite" and not an official training camp.

https://twitter.com/Khristina2334/status/1277056834235482112

According to this Twitter account, Fever have Wheeler, Doyle, T. Mitchell, K. Mitchell, Cox, Achonwa & Burke at practice. Allemand has flown over and is joining the team at some point(after quarantine?). No word on Dupree, McCowan, Vivians or Mavunga.

$10 says McCall is on this roster when they arrive in Florida if one of the four MIA players opt-out.

Well then all twelve players are at practice and accounted for. Does question why McCall is there?
