Yes, by all means, why should ESPN treat WCBB the way it does MCBB, the NBA, the NFL, and all major sports that it covers, by generating interest and discussion in the sport with preseason rankings?

How is it "way too early"? Athlon's preview issue should be out this week.

Her surgery went well but she is still not practicing and has not been cleared to play.
As good as she is UConn will thrive with or without her. While experience is an issue in Storrs, talent is not.

You underestimate depth. That is something that Uconn does not have. With Evina, they gain that, at least at the guard position. She would make a difference in quite a few games. Too many Uconn fans project improvement upon their present players long before it has ever manifested itself. A lot based on expectations on where some players were ranked in their high school class. Generally, it becomes more obvious during their second season if they are going to make a jump- the sophomore leap. It is better to wait for that to transpire than to just assume it will always happen.

Looks like the ACC will have a down year. Pc 12 looking to be the strongest but for some reason I’m sure the SEC will finish on top.

Meh....."almost every time" is a bit of a stretch. But he's hardly an idiot; I personally like Charlie, but I've made it a habit to compare his final tournament prognostication with what actually is laid out, and he misses a fair bit, especially on the intermediate levels.
This past year's prediction on his part actually played out pretty closely, though. He IS skilled in how he applies his significant knowledge base on how teams will get seeded. It's not an exact science.

It is definitely not too early! Sports publications have been posting and publishing predictions for and articles about men’s teams for quite a while now. And official practice starts in just over two weeks!

I don't think that's right. Doesn't official practice usually start in mid October?

I can't seem to find an exact date but they moved up the start date of the season by 3 weeks it looks like and added more practice time, so I would assume that hoopsmom is correct.
Quote: |
With the new opening date, practice could officially start the last week of September — the NCAA allowed women’s teams to begin 42 days before their first game. The men have had that in place since 2013. Teams are still only permitted to have 30 practices during that stretch, just as it’s been since 2010. Until this season, schools were allowed 40 days to get those practices in. |

Practice starts 42 days before the first game. In our case the first game is November 5, and the first official practice is two weeks from tomorrow.
