The $5.5 million solar roadway in France has proven to be a failure in its ability to deliver power, and is now falling apart. Speed limits have been set to 43 MPH due to the noise generated from vehicles driving over the panels.

In 2016, builders had promised it would generate power to supply 5,000 households. Now, even the roadway's most ardent supporters have deemed the project a complete failure.
