Does anyone have access to the starting line-ups? I'm curious if EDD is there, and if Meeseman is back.

Meesseman is arriving today so she's not playing.

Thanks. It would have been useful to have Emma on the bench with EDD's injury.

Powers should've passed the ball in that situation.

Griner has emerged! She’s looking dominant over the last few games.

I was down on Griner when the season started, but she's really redeemed herself. I guess the light bulb went off in Brondello's head that Griner should be the #1 option. Griner is without a doubt a top 2 MVP candidate (EDD)

As strange as it sounds, not having EDD really screws with our defense. Inserting a different player into the starting lineup and then having new lineups all game is really tough for such a communication-reliant defensive scheme.

Is this sarcasm?

I mean, let's not pretend that Griner hasn't been utterly willing to be completely passive on offense. Brondello deserves some blame but, at some point, the best player on the team has to demand the ball.

Definitely agree.

At the same time, I’ve seen games where Bonner and whoever else literally look at Griner for two seconds and just hoist up a perimeter shot. Griner, teammates, and coach need to be held accountable, IMO.

Losing your tallest starter is often bad for your defense

That's why I asked if it was sarcasm: Delle Donne is 6-foot-5, a shot blocker of some consequence, and has the highest DWS on the team... I couldn't figure out what about the defense being worse without her sounded strange, at all?

I hate to call for comparisons to the men's game, but Shaq has told the story of how, if his team went more than two straight offensive possessions without him touching the ball, he'd park his big ass in the paint, and get called for three-seconds on purpose, until they started involving him in the offense again. Maybe Griner should try that, once in a while?

Probably because she is not known to be a great defender. It makes sense to me as, despite the fact that Candace Parker is 6'4, she is not known to be a great defender.

This.
I haven't seen this game but her … let's call it care factor ... lately is noticeably improved from what it was early in the season.
The midget guard rotation that has been forced onto us recently has also been a contributing factor. Both January and Mitchell are pass-first by nature.

It also helped that the officials weren't controlling tempo with a call every time down the floor. They let a lot of obvious stuff go (for both teams) and that is the way I like it. I think the Mercury and all teams play better when the game is not stopped often.
