Miss. State currently has a roster of 14 incl Scott, 1 grad student and no seniors, and 2 commitments for 2020. And Cardoso and Hunt still have Miss State on their final lists.

Vic is making space. Scott was a pretty big contributor off the bench last season but when the team went to Italy the summer she didn't get a lot of playing time. Still a bit of a surprise.

Hey. If the writing is on the wall for her as to riding the pine this season, why not ride the pine someplace that will give you a ton of playing time next season. Cool

Actually, I may have jumped the gun, misspoke, and took a shot a both the kid and Vic. There is word that this has something to do extraneous to Basketball and it is not a discipline issue.

"extraneous to basketball" means, say, a personal/family health matter, for example. But if she's actually IN The Portal, then it appears it IS about basketball, and the furthering of her career in that sport....no?

VA Tech senior G Kendyl Brooks, daughter of coach Kenny Brooks, will miss the 2019-20 season after undergoing hip surgery last week.

Also, Vandy senior G Kaleigh Clemons-Green, the team leader in assists last season, will not play this season for undisclosed, non-injury reasons. She's still listed on the team roster but is not participating in practice, according to coach Stephanie White, who adds that no player on the team, including Clemons-Green, has a major injury at this time.

And at Kansas State, freshman G Jada Thorpe will sit out the season and take a redshirt after suffering an unspecified injury in the preseason.

Sr point guard Katie Benzan has opted to redshirt her final season at Harvard to maintain a year of eligibility but she will then use at Texas the following season. In her first three seasons for the Crimson she has become a member of their 1000 point club and also set the single-season record for three-pointers made.

Two items of big 12 import.

Freshman forward Ashley Hannon from Australia has been removed from the longhorn roster.

So Aquirra DeCosta has entered the transfer portal and will leave Baylor after this academic session.

whoa....

DeCosta will be a big get for someone. I'm always skeptical of large classes. Its hard to keep everyone happy.

West Coast destination?

DeCosta doesnt have the size to be effective at a D1 school IMO. Her game is made for a post player and she does not have the offensive shot or tools to dominate the low post. She will be a great hustler but i dont show her being a top player.

Playing behind Egbo and Smith in her own class was going to be tough, especially if she wasn't able to transition to become a perimeter player. She is the type of player that might do well at say a San Diego State or another mid-major.

So four of the top 20 chose Baylor, and two transferred. That makes sense -- there are only so many minutes to go around.

Your perspectives are based on ignorance. She was never going to play behind either Egbo or Smith. She was in fact one of Baylors better 3pt shooters. She was just behind Di Di who might be one of the best perimeter defenders in the country. Baylor just had too many parimeter players this year for her to get a lot of time on the court. And experience is what is necessary to make the transition. She lost time early last season due to injury and her, Egbo, Smith and Bickle were suspended for 5 games for unknown reasons. She probably didn't want to miss that much time this season as well.

To assume that DeCosta can not make the transition to the perimeter is absurd. She placed third in the skills competition at the worlds 3x3 some years ago. She has all the offensive skills and handles to play, she just needs to work on defending and that can only come through experience. That would be difficult on a loaded team like Baylor. She just needs to find a school that will let her play on the parimeter. She would have always been behind Di Di at Baylor until her senior year.

Apparently neither DeCosta, nor other sophomores Egbo, Smith, nor Bickle played in their exhibition game. Could there be even more attrition coming from the program??

It seems interesting that the four that did not play are the same four that were sat out for five games for whatever disciplinary reasons last year. Could it be some ongoing repercussions from that?

That poster's statement needs to be clarified. The 5-game suspension is for the current season which started last week with the 149-32 slaughter of Langston.

Hmmm. What you're saying about her certainly contradicts her #3 recruiting status....I think she may be a real force at any number of D1 schools. Baylor may be a bit .... crowded(?)....for her to shine.

Shades, I am assuming you cut and paste that image/graphic of espnW's 2018 rankings from Raoul's Twitter page.

If you did and if you are not Raoul, it sure would be nice if you would credit the source.

Red shirt Fish Kylee Griffen Will miss her second consecutive season of basketball with Gonzaga. During the preseason camp she injured her shoulder. Last year during camp she sustained an arm injury and chose to redshirt. Griffin is a 6'2" wing player who would've provided some intimidating depth on the perimeter for the zags.
