... the fact that we have no true SF is a problem. Root called Kennedy Burke weeks ago, correctly. On a post-oriented team like NY I think her adjustment would have been less seamless. But the woman can play. He also correctly stated that other teams have filled needs (Lexie Brown, Steph Talbot, etc.) cheaply. NY can’t seem to find a way to get that creative. Though I’ll give them credit for Gray, filling that SF need one way or another is something that should have been done better. |
Absolutely right. Frustrating. Hard to conceive of any good reason why this type of move hasn't happened.

Am I the only Minnesotan getting blocked on League Pass?

Gustafson should get another opportunity in the WNBA. Don't know if she's good or bad but she was college player of the year and we know Agler doesn't really like rookies.
Agler cut both Kennedy Burke and Gustafson at the last minute, stunning both, and we see how good Kennedy Burke is. She's playing like rookie of the year. Pokey ran to the waiver wire to access her. |
Gustaffson getting cut had nothing to do with Agler and ALL to do with Gustaffson's skill level. |
Gustafson seems to have a lot of skill. I think you mean her size (for a 5), athleticism or strength?

I guess nobody on the Lynx can guard Durr! Durr's got 12 already, Lynx only 14.

I have zero faith in NY's ability to maintain this, but so far this is fun.
Prove me wrong, Liberty.

This is the Lynx though. They can lose to the worst high school team in America no problem.

DRob almost hits a 35-ft'r before the half.
38-28 NYL at the half
If this is the new-look offense for Reeve, she probably needs to head back to the old-look. A little less brutal.

My worry right now is that our bench has zero points. Nurse played all 20 minutes. Smith needs to trust Bias more with Allen out(2-3 weeks).

That shot totally would have went in last year against NY. Zahui playing a terrific game. I think both Tina and Zahui have done a generally strong job of displacing opponents from post position this season. Syl missed a couple of chippies as well but even then Zahui’s motor was going nonstop. Her side-to-side movement has also improved exponentially this year.

I've been very skeptical of Zahui B. But her defensive play in recent games has been a revelation.

No question. She struggled some in the DC game due to DC’s play style. And I thought the last few minutes of the close Indy game weren’t good. But other than that she’s been terrific. Even the Indy blowout I wouldn’t pin on her.

Durr 7-7 from 2 and 0-3 from 3. That ability to finish and elevate close to the rim is really something when she is going. She’s pretty good with the right hand too, a very important trait...particularly for a lefty.

Between the two, Collier looks to have better size for her position (small forward) when you include her long arms and high shoulders than Durr does as a shooting guard.
