Lots of explanations of all the terms involved and how everything works in the article that accompanied my free agent list a few months ago: https://herhoopstats.substack.com/p/2024-wnba-free-agency-list
But yes, qualifying offers are what teams have to send out to assert their rights to a player. QOs are also a contract offer, so the player can just sign it if they want to (reserved QOs would indeed turn into training camp contracts, essentially). |

Why does the roster list her like that as if AD was a nickname? I thought she had changed her name. Although I thought it was AD Durr, like the roster sound icon pronounces her name . But this article gives me the impression her name became AD in full.

| Yeah, that does seem to be a step back. My understanding is that their preferred name is just AD, but since the league isn't equipped to handle a mononymic player, they compromised with AD Durr. I could be wrong, though.

Basically, if the player signs it, she is frozen to the team until she either makes the team, gets waived or is traded.

| I’m curious why it is important to renounce a player’s rights. Is there a limit to the number of player’s rights a team can own? Are player rights a matter of public record? I’ve never recalled a site publishing teams player’s rights. It’d be interesting to see.

They did introduce a limit on the number of players whose rights you can hold. Richyyy's probably the better expert on this, though.
