As an aside, the Sixers GM is former Duke men's NPOY Elton Brand. JJ Redick is the starting shooting guard for the Sixers. Redick and Harding entered Duke together, in 2002.

Also from pilight's link:
Brand was vice president of basketball operations when Harding became available last summer, after her year in the NBA’s Basketball Operations Associate Program. That initiative gives participants a taste of NBA jobs, from the league office through officiating.
If I am not mistaken, former Duke star and WNBA player Michele Van Gorp also participated in the NBA’s Basketball Operations Associate Program.

Thanks for that tidbit on the relationships and background (always helpful in the business/sports world). Was curious how she got connected to Philly. Harding is a bright woman, was an excellent PG and the guys can learn a lot from her. Happy she's involved in the NBA.

Here is a bit more about the NBA's program and Harding's participation. From January 25, 2018:
Quote: |
Nine-year WNBA veteran Lindsey Harding is part of the NBA’s Basketball Operations Associate Program, which helps former players transition from life on the court into potential front office positions with teams and leagues following their playing days. Fellow former WNBA player Allison Feaster completed last year’s program before moving into a full-time role with the NBA G League.
The program allows former players — joining Harding and Feaster at the Showcase were former WNBA player Michele Van Gorp and former NBA players Cherokee Parks and Acie Law — to learn about the behind-the-scenes work at the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League. The Showcase, the NBA G League’s marquee annual event, provided a prime opportunity for the group to gain experience and network, with personnel from all 26 NBA G League teams and 30 NBA teams in attendance. |

Harding, Van Gorp, and Parks all played basketball at Duke.
And from February 7, 2018:
Quote: |
Two years ago, they created the Basketball Operations Associate Program, a formal training experience that prepares athletes for opportunities in management positions. Last year, three players from both the NBA and the WNBA successfully completed the program and are now working at different teams and parts of the business.
One of the former WNBA players is Stacey Lovelace, who before coming to the program was coaching at a Division I college in Michigan. She heard about the initiative through Renee Brown, former vice president of the WNBA, and now a player development specialist with the NBA’s G-League.
In the Fall of 2017, four players began their assignment at the league offices, where they are continuing to be immersed in the programs’ pillars of focus: Business Acumen, Front Office Competencies, and League Operations. One of the current associates is Lindsey Harding, the No. 1 overall selection for the 2007 NBA Draft and former WNBA All-Star, who recently retired from the WNBA after 10 years.

Sixers assistant coach Lindsey Harding is a ‘rising star’ in the NBA
The first black woman to be a full-time NBA scout was recently promoted

Harding became the first black woman to become a full-time NBA scout when the Philadelphia 76ers hired her before the 2018-19 season. And just before the NBA playoffs began, the former Duke star became the Sixers’ first female assistant coach when she was promoted to player development coach. |
