Excerpt:

Former Duke standout Alana Beard knows Goestenkors does.

“She’s ready to pour everything that’s needed into these young women and she knows that to be true,” said Beard, who retired last month after 16 WNBA seasons. “I think she can be truly special for any program that’s willing to take a chance on her — and I think it’s funny that I’m saying ‘chance’ because you don’t take a chance with G. You’re getting something pretty special. … Any program that supports her is going to be in good hands for a long time.”

She might be walking into an awfully rough job market. With NCAA tournament revenue missing this year and serious higher education belt tightening sure to be on the horizon, I could see most athletic departments holding their nose and deciding they can't afford a buy-out this year.

Of the jobs that are currently open, Villanova seems to be the strongest contender.

That was the first opening that came to mind, and as a UConn fan would love it to strengthen the BEast!

It would be great for 'Nova, though we in the CAA were hoping they'd pick Denise Dillon. Wink

Not sure she’d go back but Duke would be stupid to not fire JM and hire GG back.

I think she should join Rick Pitino at Iona. She has always enjoyed playing second fiddle to the men's coach.

Duke has BEEN grossly stupid for the last X number of years....just my opinion, of course. MBB is the only thing that matters there.

Too bad for GG that Ivey was already earmarked for the ND HC position, because that would likely have be a good fit.
