You're not playing this week, WNBA. Smile Next week, you will play J-Spoon. I'll insert Dolson into your lineup in advance for that game. If that's wrong, let me know.

Just a reminder to WNBA 09 that I did put Dolson into your lineup, so she is slated to play for you this week in your game against J-Spoon. I wasn't going to give a reminder because I thought Zahui B was still injured, but it's been reported that she will play tonight.

DNP alert for J-Spoon:

Elizabeth Williams didn't play in tonight's game for Atlanta. The reason given in the box score is "DNP-Personal."

Atlanta still has two more games this week, but you are free to swap Williams out if you want.

I have been putting off this decision hoping for more info but Atl is on the road these next two games so if the personal thing is bad she might not travel with the team this weekend at all so

switching in my only eligible player G/F Stricklen Conn Sunn

if it is too late I will stick with Williams

It's not too late; Connecticut hasn't played yet. I'll put Stricklen in. You can change your mind if you get more information on Williams before their games start.

really glad I made the switch as Williams didn't play tonight so she might not even be on the road trip and Stricklen did enough to make it worth it considering my opponent got a huge game out of A. Thomas and without Shekinna's contribution I would be way down.

So I don't have the exact number but A. Clark needs to have a decent game to get me over the hump.

Our team is getting rustier and rustier... Not sure they will remember how to play when we finally move again. Sad

While you are being richly rewarded for your first place finish in the standings, in a way, you have been punished for coming in first place. You're not getting any fantasy action this way. The player whose team advances to the championship game to play you will have more fun out of the league than you did.

If we do this again, I've thought of a new playoff system that still rewards the first place team, but only gives them a guaranteed berth in the Final 4 (and then we can have a real Final 4, as a basketball league should). It also leads to more fantasy action for the other playoff participants.

It has the same number of playoff teams, and same cutoffs for the two lower tiers: 2-4 and 5-7.

Round 1: 5-7 will play a 3-way game as before, but this time, 2 out of 3 will advance. Meanwhile, 2-4 will also be playing a 3 way game. The winner will receive a berth in the Final 4, while the lower two teams will be forced to play in Round 2.

Round 2: The two winners of the 5-7 game and the two losers of the 2-4 game will play head to head. Winners advance to the Final 4.

Rounds 3 & 4: Typical Final Four format

Using this, there will be more players enjoying fantasy action each week in the playoffs during weeks 2 and 4 of the playoffs, while at the same time keeping the three tiers of qualification that made the final week of the regular season so interesting.

The front page is updated, but I will not be able to make any more updates until late Monday night. The Seattle game will not be included until then. The winners of this week play next week, so if you see that you've won, don't forget to submit a lineup if you want it to be different.

Hoopmom needs a miracle to beat Toad455, and J-Spoon only needs a 10 point game from Alysha Clark to defeat WNBA09. Good luck, everyone!

Not knowing what is happening to Thornton, we would like to replace her in this all-important lineup with Brianna Turner, F, Phoenix.

Mojo/myrtle doubling down on the Phoenix Mercury! Turner and Brittney Griner will be seeking to shut down J-Spoon's Alysha Clark on Tuesday night in the RFBL Championship's most important game!

So it comes down to Griner vs. Cambage in the Finals! Good stuff. Congratulations Mojo/myrtle and J-Spoon for your excellent seasons! You have both earned the right to be the last team owners to enjoy fantasy basketball action this coming week--good luck to you both!

The RFBL championship begins! First up, Emma Meesseman, who kicks off the final week of fantasy action for Mojo/myrtle when the Mystics tip off against the Liberty in just a few minutes!

J-Spoon will be rooting for the Liberty to play better defense than we've been seeing all year to stop Meesseman. My guess is that Meesseman puts up a nice healthy number for Mojo/myrtle.

It seems like I will be watching this meaningless game for the Liberty, so I might make a few comments here as I watch.

Oops, guess I am not watching the Liberty game live. It's blacked out, which is normally OK for me, but the game isn't being shown on local TV live due to a conflict with the Yankee game. So it's tape delay for me--you will have to somehow survive with my live commentary. Smile

It's on the Fox Sports Go app. That's how I'm watching.

Thanks, Toad--but it doesn't appear that I can get the app to work. I'm getting various errors, depending on how I try to sign in/sign up. Tape delay will have to be good enough!

All five players who played last night scored pretty close to their season averages, so it's a very close start to the championship. Mojo/myrtle lead by 35, but J-Spoon has an extra player to go, including Liz Cambage.

The forwards are a wash: Emma Meesseman(29.9) and Brianna Turner(19.2) for Mojo/myrtle pretty much played J-Spoon's Alysha Clark(28.3) and Elizabeth Williams(22.6) to a standstill. Brittney Griner's 36.4 accounts for the lead, with Cambage and all the guards still to play.

Tonight Jasmine Thomas tries to add to Mojo/myrtle's lead as the Sun host the Wings. Everything else will be decided on Thursday!

If Jasmine Thomas does well, and Cambage comes through with a big game and Plum continues her decent play the real final will be Friday where Diamond Deshields will probably have to make up some ground on fellow Sky guard Allie Quigley.

Thomas could put it out of reach or a poor performance from Cambage or Plum could end it early but hopefully Diamond is within 10-15 point striking distance come Friday night to keep in interesting.

Yeah, that Chicago game will be one of those weird fantasy games where you've each got players going on the same team. That's always one of the more artificial fantasy experiences--appreciation of the actual game can be lost when that happens.

It's much better when there are direct matchups, for example, it would have been great if Las Vegas went up against Phoenix this week! Watching Cambage go up against Griner in real life to help decide the fantasy championship would have been awesome.

There's also the issue of playing the last week of the season because it's hard to know (especially at the beginning of the season) who is going to be resting and which games mean the most, so when the coach is going to be willing to shut down starters, etc...

Anyway it's been fun even if our Angel and Skylar gambles didn't pay off! And yeah, it looks like it will be a close contest. I think the key is probably Cambage. She could easily have 50. Hoping for more like the Griner game, then it will be up to the guards. Good matchups for sure.
