Let's get this party started!
Notes from day 1:
Duke is playing on the first day of the ACC tourney since it was formatted to double byes for the top 4 teams. Previously Duke either got the double bye outright or was fighting for it in the last game of the regular season. Duke prevailed against "bottom of the conference" Pitt and will face single bye Florida State on day 2.
Tina Thompson coached UVA prevailed against Boston College and Virginia Tech walloped Wake Forest. The final margin in that game of 22 points was determined by Va Tech resting starters for game 2 and Wake coach Jen Hoover working her team hard in their last game of the season in hopes of setting up her young team for more success next year.

I watched a bit of Duke-Pitt and was surprised that Pitt didn't look 'terrible' in the time I was watching. Like I think there is future hope for them.

Day 2
Game 1 Virginia vs Syracuse
Virginia fought hard but Syracuse prevailed by 10 points. UVA's Willoughby was high scorer at 19 pts and the Cuse's Mangakahia had a quiet day (for her) with 13 pts/ 6 assists but 5 turnovers. Syracuse had four players in double figures to UVA's two, which was the difference in the game.
Game 2 North Carolina vs Georgia Tech
Pregame reports state Janelle Bailey is not warming up so the rumor that she's suspended for the game seems to be confirmed. Georgia Tech continues to play without two starters who've been out "for personal reasons" since the suspension of Coach Machelle Joseph. It's likely to be a scrappy game, with neither team playing up to the level of the regular season. Survive and advance.
Game 3 Va Tech vs Clemson
After dismantling Wake, Va Tech faces much stronger competition against a rested Clemson team which exceeded all expectations under first year head coach Amanda Butler. Tech playing for an NIT bid while Clemson could get their first NCAA tourney bid since the Jim Davis days.
Game 4 Duke vs Florida State
After surviving day 1, Duke faces a rested Florida State team, down to eight players in uniform. Duke had its' own "eight is enough" run to the Final Four under previous Coach Goestenkors and Florida State doesn't have near the star power of that Duke team (Beard, Tillis and Currie). Florida State is favored, but the game is certainly winnable for Duke who's riding a four game win streak. The fate of the game could rest on Duke's Gorecki who's playing through an injury that keeps her from practicing between games. She's coming off an 18/7/6 game yesterday in 29 minutes.

This GT-UNC game is actually pretty good. That flagrant-1 on Balogun though—not so much. Looked more like a flagrant flop on the UNC player...or as the announcer called it, “an exaggerated reaction.”

How do you just dribble the time away?

Looks like UNC sent it's players to flop school.
There should be a rule against faking contact.

silly me. I keep thinking Duke should be better than they are.
And yeah, I pretty much keep the mute on for Debbie A.

agree. Make it a Tech foul and all that BS would go away.

there have been 28 made baskets in the 1st 28 clock minutes of this game.
Did they charge admission? Should there be a refund?

And suddenly the team losing by 9 in the 4th period is in the bonus. But it is little help when you are 4-9 from the line.

too bad this Syracuse-Miami game is so early. This one is a great game so far - the inside game vs the three point shooting team. Fun to watch.

Cuse can't miss and building a large lead! Mangakahia doing her thing. THese announcers make her sound like she's ancient. I looked and she's 23. Definitely old for a junior, but not like she's 30.
I'm guessing ND and Louis will be happy if they don't have to face Miami's bigs again.

Syracuse again draining threes. Miami 's perimeter defense is suspect and may cost them severely. 13/28 from the arc for Cuse for the game.

Syracuse is dangerous when they're shooting out of their minds.
They shot a higher percentage on 3s than on 2s today.
Problem is, you just can't do that every game. Eventually you're going to have an off shooting game and lose.
Miami has more total baskets. The 8 more 3s by Syracuse are the entire margin of victory.
