Muffet has played a surprising amount of junk defenses this year. I expect to see a lot of box-and-1 on Mangakahia tomorrow night.

It will definitely be a test for her.

2 year's ago at the Orange the Irish won 85-80 and were led by Turner's 31 pts (13-14). Arike was 3-7 for 7 points.

How times have changed.

I was just looking at that a few minutes ago. It's to her waist band. I would think that there would be a requirement to have it under control.

I feel so bad for the Syracuse players. They have a great recruiter, but a terrible coach. This team should be far better at handling this moment. He just subs way too much and they can’t get any rythym. They are abysmal on defense and they can’t rebound out of this shit zone they play.

Interesting comment by Lobo about knees swelling on an airplane. I never thought about it.

Also funny the comment that Andy made after, asking her what she knew about getting on an airplane. Laughing

Their coach managed to get his team to the FF a couple of years ago and did it with a lot less talent than the other 3 teams. And 9 on his roster are underclassmen. He has 7 players from outside the US. Four of their five freshman are from Europe. It will be interesting to see how they develop.

As for this game I can't figure out why he kept trying to go inside instead of shooting 3's, which is the only thing they may be better at than the Irish.

If there are only 16 teams in D1 that are better than Syracuse then it's definitely a down year. 34 pts in 25 mins. in your own house?

How did Shepherd not get called for a charge on that?

I guess maybe it's just a lot of confidence in their ability. But then I think of the 2013 Baylor team.

Actually, it was a bit unfair to Lobo since the whole "UConn usually gets a nearby regional" thing is fairly recent.

While UConn did host the regionals during her senior year (1995), previous years during her time there, their regional was in Nashville, Iowa City (they lost in the 1st round that year, so they didn't get there), and Piscataway, NJ. Looking at other years afterwards, UConn had gone to Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, California, and NC for various regionals.

It's really only since the 2012 season that UConn has had "protected" regionals (Kingston, RI, Bridgeport, CT (4 times), and Albany). The only exception was 2014, which was the last year that they set up the schools bidding for the regionals, so the only choices there were ND, Louisville, Nebraska, and Stanford, and they ended up in the only regional that didn't have either another #1` seed (ND), or a potential game against a home team that was either a #2 (Stanford) or #3 (Louisville) seed.

Problem with Andy’s comment is him showing bias. Plus Lobo goes out of her way to be so objective and not biased toward UConn that she sometimes comes off as disingenuous.

And yes there seems to be 2 teams playing their starters until near the end of the game when they are up by 30 - ND and OR and it is not because they don’t have players to put in the game.

Really? Tell me who ND has. Nixon, their first player off the bench most of the year, is out injured. So is Gilbert, who was playing a lot before she got hurt. Vaughn played 16 minutes last night. Prohaska played 14. The only one that I don't know why she didn't play more last night was Patterson.

Geno doesnt play his bench any more even against his lineup of RPI 200+ opponents.
Lots of others teams don't either.

And that whopper about Lobo being objective? Wow. Well she's a lot more objective than you are, that's for sure, but that's not saying much.

BTW, Ionescu is the only player from Oregon or ND ranked in the top 150 players in the country in minutes per game, which is as far down as the NCAA includes. NO ND players are ranked in the top 150. Guess the starters aren't hogging all the minutes after all. Rolling Eyes

I spent last season reading a daily litany of how all their injuries had crippled the Irish depth. Well, they are back on the roster and yet I still hear the same whining.

Arike (cheap shot) Ogunbowale played 38 minutes in a 30 pt blowout of Syracuse. She took 19 shots while the bench took 4. Is Muffit going to once again sit on her hands and pout if her soociopathic star isn't named NPOY?
