Gustafson scored 45 pts (17-24) in the Big Ten tournament championship against Maryland today. Any questions?

One player got her team a conf. championship. The other did not.

Please! How many teams beat Maryland and Big 10 teams hung with them? Even Rutgers beat Maryland...I bet all those posters on here who called Maryland & the Big 10 overrated are quiet now just so an uncoordinated, non-ball-handling post player can win an award.... Just to clarify, someone said Pheesa's been padding stats in the AAC? I beg to differ! Geno's been playing possum all season and keeping the studs in the gates. They are now unleashed for post-season! Phees 30 ppg so far in the "new" season, she could've been doing that all year!

Wait. Your argument is that Collier should be national player of the year because she scored 37 against 16-15, RPI 190, East Carolina? Seriously? That's the best you can do? And about that "all year" thing, she didn't do it against today's cupcake. What happened?

In their conference championships, Gustafson scored 45 points on 71% shooting in a win, while Ionescu scored 27 points on 38% shooting in a loss.

If Gustafson had a right hand, she'd be even more effective. She should work on it.

She scored 23 and sat out the whole third quarter...meanwhile Megan had to play the whole game just to keep the overrated Terps at bay...

Um. There’s a huge difference between the Terps who won the Big 10 and literally anyone else in the American Conference.

Certainly Gustafson improved her position today and should now be the favorite. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Ionescu win one of the awsrds.

Yeah, their iconic name, nothing else. Maryland's RPI, playing in a P5 conference, is 14th. UCF, playing in the pathetic AAC is at 15.

Where's the big difference?

Here's the link. Look for yourselves: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-women/d1/ncaa-womens-basketball-rpi

Because as with most of your "defend the AAC" nonsense, reality is more complicated. The "big difference" is the Committee's ""quadrant" analysis. UCF's Q1 record of 1-4 sticks out like a sore thumb, and is even worse when you see the 1 w is over #43 Quinnipiac. Maryland's Q1 record is 7-4.

Obviously the Committee noticed. In its last reveal, Maryland was a 3 seed, #10 overall. Unsurprisingly UCF was absent.

Literally the Hussie homerism is laughable if you watched any of their games and also watched Iowa against Maryland. The AAC has the dumbest coaches I have ever seen,, no adjustments and quit and they can barely dribble the ball. It should be called the 5' 6" and under league, and yet they struggled in a 1 game at a time against USF, yes I said USF, last Monday LMAO

Gustafson should be hands down, no argument. She has put up magnificent numbers and hasn't had rebounds fall in her lap as she shoots 70%. Laughing Laughing

I have to say that was the worst AAC tournament that I have seen since we ended up in this league. We will really see the affects next year and beyond. Gustafson put up a really impressive performance and she does not have much around her.

First time I've ever heard anyone call Gustafson uncoordinated. She has great hands, truly beautiful moves, and can obviously put the ball in the basket. And she does it against double and triple teams.

Well, THIS is one of the Finer Threads here....it, alone, should earn an award for "Started with the best intention, and degenerated to shit the fastest!" Laughing Laughing

It'd be a mini-travesty if Megan doesn't earn this award. She's been THAT good for TOO long....she's a senior, ferchrissake. She's been TOO substantial to ignore her legacy at this point.

The Race Thing? You've GOT to be kidding...... Rolling Eyes

And it was unanimous among Voepel, Lobo, Creme, Robinson and Hays.
