Bernie Sanders (and a few of the freshman House members) label themselves Democratic Socialists, but then don’t advocate socialism, which means they either aren’t Democratic Socialists, or are waiting (as the Democratic Socialists of America website says is necessary) to call for them. I don’t see the benefit of saying you are a Democratic Socialist and then not advocating public ownership of corporations - if not today, within some timeframe. I agree with justintyme that it is going to hurt you. Talk about free college and Medicare for all, but leave out a label that doesn’t apply to what you are proposing. Now Republicans can refer to Venezuela every time they criticize Sanders.

Here is a poll that captures how the voters generally feel about certain groups:

IMO Biden is leading because he is the candidate most democratic voters think can beat Trump.

No one is psyched about Biden and his policies no one is like "yeah Joe Biden is Awesome!" they just believe because he has some appeal with white working class voters in states like Penn and Mich. and the nostalgia of the Obama era that he is the safest candidate.

If he can ride that to a win more power to him but I think that thought process might be flawed.

Obama/Biden plus more Biden, plus four years, minus Obama equals what exactly?

That's pretty much how Hillary Clinton got nominated...

I think it will end up being Biden as the nominee. I'm sure once Obama officially endorses him, he'll climb higher in the polls. I do feel like he'd only run for one term and pass it off to his VP. Honestly hoping he selects Buttigieg, O'Rourke or Harris as his VP.

Except for the millions of people who were excited to support Hillary Clinton because they thought she would be an excellent president.

He's not that good at running the five boroughs of New York. Confused

He shouldn't and save his face. NYC is falling apart right now.

^ I will 100% vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is (provided nothing absolutely disqualifying comes out--that is worse than those things disqualifying about Trump).

I would hope that anyone who's left-of-center on would do the same. My biggest concern is who the right-of-center and true center swing voters (who--along with the left-of-center voters-- have empirically decided elections) are willing to support.

Thanks to the electoral college, my vote in the presidential election is irrelevant

Biden is leading because he has the most name recognition at the moment. That's it.

The field being so huge may mean that no one will ever catch him, but I think there are a few stand up names that might.

Yup, who were all essentially harassed into silence, and forced to defend her as "she's not perfect but..." instead of getting the opportunity to express excitement about her historic nomination.

I can't stand Bernie Sanders. I don't want Biden either. I think they're both problematic. But I'll vote for them over Trump.

It's actually not this time around.

There are several states (mine-CT- included) who will be giving their electoral votes to the popular vote leader.
