This list is comprised of potential head/assistant/support staff openings ... it does not mean that the assistant wouldn't necessarily stay on that staff, but with the head coaching change, it is an assumption at the moment that a new HC would hire their own staff.

Holy Cross head coach Bill Gibbons has been suspended. Ann McInerney will serve as the interim head coach.

"Furthermore, the matter does not involve any violation of the law or any violation of NCAA or Patriot League rules and regulations. It is strictly an internal, personnel issue. I look forward to returning to my coaching responsibilities at Holy Cross."

Well that's a totally vague way of saying pretty much nothing. How the hell do you suspend someone for the completion of a season and there's no explanation as to why?

Women’s basketball assistant coach Tiffany Swoffard is no longer with the University of Toledo program.

Swoffard and the team decided to go their separate ways, and the team will have no further comment on the matter, according to a University of Toledo spokesman.

If it's an internal school matter not involving a student or sexual misconduct, and meriting a big-time suspension, I'd have to guess it's an alleged egregious interaction with another staff member. They wouldn't suspend him for some paperwork BS. Interestingly, he was sued by a former player for abusive behavior several years ago and he voluntarily took a LOA while the school cleared him and a bunch of former players came to his defense.

Are all these departures for inappropriate behavior and other "incidents"? It still seems early in the season to be firing people for their W-L records.

FAMU seems to be pretty much for their record. They're 3-20 overall, 1-10 in conference play, and in the basement of the MEAC.

Jeff Dow informs UL-Monroe he will finish his contract and move on. Reading his comments, it’s not hard to see why: he clearly doesn’t feel the school is providing the resources necessary to be successful.

futureisbright, thanks again for this great resource. Just had a question about the jobs with interim coaches, like ECU. Any reason why those are categorized differently than say Saint Francis PA or any of the open jobs, which also have interim coaches? Wasn't sure if there was a key difference in categorization.Or is it just because a job like ECU could hire the interim coach and has not announced an opening?

St Francis PA has their AD as HC ...So they are definitely going to hire someone new. That's really only difference there. Doubtful that she will be HC and AD.

Vermont + Morgan State named Interim prior to season, so better chance of staying on.

ECU I kept as Interim because they had more of the season to "possibly" stay on.

FAMU just got let go and its February so I would assume they may hire from outside, but if Lynum does well to finish, he will probably get a look.

coaching at a DI school ain't the easiest job in the world. For a lot of non P5 schools in particular, but really P5 as well, how good you are at recruiting is going to often be the make or break for your success. If you're at a non P5 school, then you're pretty much looking at the 'best of the rest' or finding a hidden gem or recruiting overseas. Recruiting overseas generally requires $, which aren't so available. There has to be something about you, your program, your facilities, your school's resources that allows you to stand out to the kid who's in the 'best of the rest' category. Then of course you have to coach up what you get, but the coaching aspect is really only a portion of the overall picture. I'm guessing there are some decent 'coaches' that simply get lost in all the other processes.

Wow. After 16 years. This is a big deal.

"As it is a pending personnel matter, Georgia Tech will have no further comment at this time."

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

As an aside (and as some of you may recall), Mark Simons is the ex-husband of former Duke women's basketball coach Gail Goestenkors.

There have long been rumors in the ACC that she is verbally abusive to her players ala McCallie...Looks like GT may actually do something about it.
