Didn't Duke suspend McCallie during the period of their internal investigation?

I watched the Virginia-Georgia Tech game, I thought MaChelle Joseph was pretty abusive towards her players even after the game was out of its reach, she kept on berating her players for a long while. It was such a distressing thing to see.

As an aside (and as some of you may recall), Mark Simons is the ex-husband of former Duke women's basketball coach Gail Goestenkors.

Gail was an assistant at Purdue when MaChelle was playing.

There have long been rumors in the ACC that she is verbally abusive to her players ala McCallie...Looks like GT may actually do something about it.

Seems like most coaches are verbally abusive to their players. But there is a matter of degree and frequency.

It was during the off season and honestly I don't remember if she was officially suspended or just investigated.

I don't think she was suspended though

Goforit77 is right. McCallie wasn't actually suspended, just investigated in the off-season.

In many states, not being told why you are being suspended is illegal. Not sure about Georgia as it is a so-called “right-to-work” state and many of its laws are pretty medieval.

Georgia Tech is not characterizing it as a suspension, but as being on administrative leave.

As an aside, there is now another layer to the story. Tech just fired its women’s basketball grad assistant in wake of MaChelle Joseph's leave.

This is probably the right thread for this:

Penn State fired Coquese Washington.

Pretty good job open early in silly season.

This article: http://www.statecollege.com/news/local-news/penn-state-womens-basketball-to-move-on-from-washington,1479546/ listed 3 potential replacements:

1. Fred Chmiel - former asst and currently asst coach at South Carolina
2. Terri Williams-Flourney - PSU alum and current HC at Auburn
3. Pam Borton - former Minnesota HC

I don't know about that list but I guess you never know.

Is Penn State alum Suzie McConnell-Serio interested?

If I were Penn State, with that athletic department budget, I would throw a little extra into this hire. This is a really good job opportunity for someone.

The first person I would contact, even though she won't take the job, is Gail Goestenkors.

Coquese was a player here in Cleveland on the Cleveland Rockers Team. She gave birth to her twins or triplets(can't remember which) while she was playing. I wish her the best in her future.
