They had a rotten year, going from near the top to the basement. Not sure what happened. On their upside, they did beat JMU in the tournament (JMU was missing 2 of their best players already and the 3rd got hurt on the opening play of the game). |
I have a feeling it was a "forced resignation"

I'm betting you're right.

The press release said that assistant coach Dean Lockwood "will maintain operational oversight of the program until a coaching hire is made." So, I'm curious what is going to happen with the other assistant coaches (Bridgette Gordon and Sharrona Reaves).

I am excited for Coach Williams! I believe she was interested in the Miami (Ohio) job a few years ago that ended up going to Megan Duffy. Good to see Coach Williams get a head gig in her home state (she went to high school in Louisville).
Williams replaces Chrissy Roberts, who was let go after 11 years after having compiled a record of 122-194.

Interesting tidbit...now-fired WC HC Stephanie McCormick spent nine years serving under Kellie Harper at both Western Carolina (2004-09) and North Carolina State (2009-13).

What is up with this "change in leadership" garbage?
They were fired. Just say so. |

I know it was probably done to give the tie to the Lady Vols past, but the article saying "Kellie Jolly Harper" seems a little sloppy. She's doesn't use "Jolly" in her professional life as far as I've seen. |

Sloppy maybe, but it was an easy way to make sure the Tenn faithful know who she is.

So was he fired for lack of performance on the court or because of what got him suspended?
These ridiculous ass covering releases are just vomit inducing with their lack of transparency. |

______X
A lot of these press releases try to stress the positive aspects when there is a coaching change. And if the departing coach had a losing record, they try to minimize that angle.
