Nike Tournament of Champions the annual event which brings some of the best teams (or the best teams not restricted to travel by their respective state high school activities associations) together is currently taking place in Arizona. I think the count is 64 teams competing in a variety of brackets.

The Clare Droesch bracket is the elite league featuring teams like ArchBishop Mitty, St Johns (DC), Southridge OR, Christ the King (NY) and players like Haley Jones, Azzi Fudd, Cameron Brink, and Natalia Marshall.

The Link is to the bracket and features the scheduled games. You can even click on a highlights video or subscribe to watch n entire game.

Of note so far:

Day one saw Cameron Brink and Southridge down Haley Jones and Mitty. These two will be teammates in Palo Alto next Fall.

Azzi Fudds St Johns team is 1-1 after two days in the tourney. So is Brinks team. Haley Jones team has yet to win.

Winward Cal has been impressive in two wins thus far.

Grandview CO features 6'8 frosh Lauren Betts who had a big game against Mitty.

Brink is just a junior, so Haley will have to wait.

I believe the games are streamed on Ballerhoops if anyone's interested in seeing what elite high school basketball looks like.

Clay, you're correct on Brink being a 2020.

Another note, The Grandview CO team that beat Haley Jones and Mitty is the team that Stanford signed Fran Beliebi dunked on a few weeks ago. That game ended ina skirmish where one of the Grandview players received a one game suspension for throwing a punch.

Actually the final is between Miami country Day and Charisma Osborne s WinWard CA team. Christ the king goes up against new Hope for third place.

Regarding Haley Jones and Mitty, it seems that several team members contracted the flu prior to the tournament and were in the hospital getting fluids
