LMRC looks as weak as RPI to me. Some of it is pretty ridiculous.

On the main topic: I just looked at Tenn vs WVU and really don't see the difference. So why is Tenn in and WVU not even being considered?

West Virginia's RPI is 79, compared to Tenn's 59. West Virginia's SOS is also 87 compared to Tennesse's 36, per RPI. I guess those numbers make a pretty big difference between the two.

If you look at the teams on the Debatable 8:

15. Central Florida: Conference Record 16-4 (Worst Loss: #32. Central Michigan, Best Win: #41 Quinnipiac
34. Ohio SOS 70 Conference Record: 16-5 (Worst Loss: #85. Toledo, Best Win: #25. Buffalo)
47. Indiana SOS: 41 Conference Record: 9-11 (Worst Loss: #209 Grambling, Best Win: 7. Iowa)
50. Auburn SOS 70. Conference Record: 10-8 (Worst Loss: #59. Tennessee, Best Win: #38. North Carolina)
56. TCU SOS 64. Conference Record 10-9 (Worst Loss: #143 Oklahoma State. Best Win: #11 Iowa State)
59. Tennessee SOS: 36. Conference Record: 8-10. (Worst Loss: #210. Vanderbilt, Best Win: #29. Texas)
67. Arkansas SOS: 45. Conference Record 9-11 (Worst Loss: #127 Pittsburgh, Best Win: #16 TAMU)

I think we can say that Central Florida is safely in, as they weren't on the initial sheet, and Southern California was. So, that leaves 3 spots for six teams. I'd say that having a winning record in conference is pretty darn important, so I'd take TCU and Auburn as the next two teams. That leaves you to choose between Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Arkansas for the final spot. If it were up to me, I'd take Ohio, but nothing is ever up to a lackey from Denver who went to school in Ohio and has a tie to Stanford.

Hey I'd have no problem with that Smile. Just kidding of course - I laughed when I clicked on that link and saw them at #6 overall - they are nowhere near worthy of that or a 2 seed.

now that we have discounted the LMRC I guess it doesn't help my case that WVU's rating is 10 higher than Tenn. Laughing

but actually I was looking at who they beat and who they lost to and their overall record and their conference records.

and I know I'm a broken record (does anybody even know what that means anymore?) but I don't think a team with a losing conference record should be in...ever. And Big12 as a conference actually has a higher RPI than the SEC.

I said somewhere earlier, WVU isn't in only because their non-conference schedule consisted of basically nothing but High School JV teams, which completely destroyed their RPI/SOS (losing to the only two good teams they played non-conference, Iowa and Missouri, didn't make up for it). But Tennessee beat tournament teams Texas and Clemson non-conference, and didn't play as many ridiculously cupcake-y cupackes.

What looks like Charlie Creme's final prediction is up.

http://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/bracketology

As expected, Missouri State's win in the MVC tournament bumps Ohio from last team in to first team out.

I still think Arkansas should get in ahead of TN. Razz

Ohio's best win is better than UCF's
Ohio's worst loss is nowhere near as bad as UCF's
Ohio has more quadrant one wins and more quadrant two wins than UCF

The only reason UCF is in is that they got blown out by UConn three times, as if that showed them to be a tournament quality team

Looks like Drake really got penalized by Creme for losing in the MVC finals yesterday. If memory serves, he had them as a 5 seed. Now they're down to an 8, playing against UNC in Storrs with UCONN waiting in the wings.

I think they were a 7 before yesterday’s loss.

OK, thanks. That makes more sense.

It won't happen. I've seen some delusional fans on the CardBoard as well wishing that we get sent to Portland. I don't see how they don't send Oregon there, unless they find some sound reasoning for competitive balance to send the Ducks elsewhere and keep the Beavers there. Definitely not Stanford though.

The losses to the Zags and Utah sealed our fate. Eastward ho! and off we go!

Apparently there’s a leaked bracket going around. Tennessee is in, plays UCLA round 1. Louisville is the #1 seed in Albany, UConn #2z

I’ll see if I can find some screenshots.

Essentially, ESPNU accidentally broadcast the bracket, there are some screenshots on Twitter if you wish to search for them. Muffet won’t be happy to see who they sent to Chicago with her.

I'm relieved we got off the #16 line. OTOH, I doubt the Bears can do anything with Gustafson.
