Im not , Best starting 5 in the country hands down. Hell if they had a starting 8 they would still be the unanimous #1 imo .

You wonder why I was surprised? Look at the USA Today Coaches Poll. NOT unanimous. UConn received 1st place votes.

As I said, I wasn't surprised at the ranking. I just expected what happened in the Coaches poll to happen in the AP as well.

Maybe Geno will use it for inspiration.

Looks like a little hype can’t hurt to get you in the Top 25, although they flirted with Top 25 last year. I’m skeptical of a Top 25 ranking for the Gophers considering it’s a rookie head coach with a new system, and one of the starters from last year could be out for the season. With their soft schedule, I don’t expect them to really get tested until they play Syracuse, so they might stay on the poll for a while.

So some guy from the Laramie Boomerang thinks that nearly losing at home to Syracuse warrants a jump up to first place?

Interesting.

I don't think Houston would've arrived in the poll even if they beat Cal by 20.

If that would have happened(even by one point), California would have dropped off and WVU (#26) would have made an appearance. Northwestern didn’t make the poll by beating Duke, but they did make it to #28. Houston got no votes.

Georgia drops off. West Virginia hops on. Not enough respect for Northwestern, IMO.

Maryland leapfrogs Stanford and Oregon St with their impressive win over South Carolina.

Syracuse up 4, Cal up 5 (wtf?)

It's back to unanimous for Notre Dame.

You wonder if the guy from Laramie

a) simply mismarked his ballot last week by accident, or

b) got so much ridicule and saw his Twitter feed light up enough that he decided not to be the single outlier any more, or

c) actually watched ND beat DePaul and Oregon beat Buffalo and made a reasoned decision that ND should be #1 this week.

I'm betting it's not C. It's a coin flip between A and B.

Here's the link to the AP site that includes the individual votes:

https://apnews.com/afs:Content:2571460050

UGA dropped out of the top 25, but one wonders why they still got 48 votes while GaTech only got one vote when GT beat them solidly and UGA lost to two unranked teams.

I assume it's the usual pollster stubbornness of refusing to let go of an erroneous impression. They were convinced UGA was good, and they're going to cling to that belief as long as possible even in the face of all contrary evidence.

I wish it was pollster stubbornness ... I think it's pollster indifference and lack of research.

You're probably right. Maybe it's simple inertia rather than conscious stubbornness. In the absence of paying enough attention to make a reasoned decision to change, they simply stick with their preconceived notions.

Three of the top five and nine of the top 25 in the Week 3 poll are teams that were in the Old Big East Conference at one time or another.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end . . . .

Glad to see IA-State rising. I thought they might be the Big 12's eventual #3. But....lotsa season left to go! Cool

It will be fun to watch Iowa State versus our Coyotes on Wednesday. It’s going to be a tough match, but I think there will be a lot of people in the gym cheering on the Yotes. Last year, this game was undecided right down to the very end, and Iowa State just edged us out.
