Unlike the Meyers Drysdale award this one is nearly all major conference nominees. 17 of the 20 are from the top 5 conferences or the Big East. No one from UConn (I guess because Samuelson was nominated for the Drysdale award.

The only 3 small conference players are:

Lexi Klabo - North Dakota
Courtney Woods - Northern Illinois
Tia Wooten - Tennessee St.

Go Klabo! Like to see recognition of a lesser known player.

Strange that Slocum and McWilliams got nominated but neither Pivec nor Tudor did. I think Tudor is a Top 10 3 Point shooter in the country.

So, this is a small forward award and Gabby Williams was the winner last year? I watched 75%-80% of UConn games last season. I must have been in the kitchen getting a snack whenever she played SF because I never saw it.

Last season, five UConn players were nominated for these positional awards, at least four of them incorrectly. While UConn often plays apositionally, there are predominant roles.

Nurse was nominated at PG, whereas she was the starting SG.

KLS was nominated at SG, whereas she was the starting SF.

Williams was nominated at SF, whereas she was the starting PF.

Collier was nominated at PF, whereas she was the starting center.

Stevens was nominated at center, and as a reserve she did fill in that spot depending upon who else was on the floor, but she also floated around the 4 and 3.

So far this season, Dangerfield has been correctly nominated at PG. Christyn Williams will be the SG, not KLS, who again has been nominated incorrectly for that position. KLS will likely play the 3, Megan Walker the 4, and Collier the 5 in the starting lineup.

Any word on Joyner Holmes' status? Does the committee check these things before putting someone on a watch list?
