Hopefully, we have a Taruasi sighting. |

If the Liberty are going to win this game, someone else besides Tina Charles will have to carry the offense. Griner can get in the way of Tina's usually unblockable hook shot and fadeaway jumper. I haven't checked the numbers, but it seems to me that Griner is sort of a hard counter to Tina, and makes the Mercury extremely hard for the Liberty to beat.

Tina’s shooting % against Phoenix has not usually been good. She’ll usually get 15-20 though. Guarding Bonner (4 spot makes her a tough guard) and Griner is going to be next to impossible. I’m concerned about losing this game by 20+. The matchups are brutal. To stay in the game I feel like Nurse and Durr have to combine for 35+ for NY to hang in the game. Offensive rebounding might be to our advantage too. Libs have good offensive rebounders. Might see quite a bit of Nayo on Bonner and Warley on Griner. Those are the best of what are unenviable defensive matchups. Hoping we can make them pay for a lack of bulk with 15 or more offensive rebounds. Phoenix is unsurprisingly last in the league in rebound percentage with this lineup. Making them pay that way is a must, and another avenue toward keeping the game close.

This game falls on our guards(Durr, Nurse, Boyd mostly) to counter the Mercury guards of January, Mitchell and Carson. Let's see who steps up.

Somebody forgot about Taurasi, unless the thought is she won’t play at the guard position and pushes more minutes to Bonner at PF. 🤔

Wonder if she will have a minutes restriction first game back.

I hope so. I've got no doubt that her mouth will return to action without missing a beat, but the rest of her body should be eased back into it.

Do we think she’ll still lead the league in techs this year? It would be a shame to see her streak end because of missed time.

The Liberty are the worst team on player updates.

Carson still listed as "Probable", so the Merc starting 5 tonight is:
- Mitchell
- January
- Cunningham
- Bonner
- Griner
Coming off the bench for backcourt depth is... uhh... Bueller? Bueller?

If Carson and Taurasi are both out, I would probably put Bonner at SF and start Lyttle.

If the Liberty aren't going to double Griner or at least front her or something, seriously...forfeit the game. It's 3 games of travel in 5 days which makes doubling tricky but if you're yielding a one foot shot to her every possession why bother? Warley is a little better matchup so hopefully that helps.

You're right. New York has no one available tonight who has a chance against Griner one-on-one.

You can't keep Han on the bench game after game and then suddenly throw her in against Griner, who's already on fire.

It's worth a try at this point.
