Exclusive: Les Moonves Was Obsessed With Ruining Janet Jackson’s Career, Sources Say
Quote: |
Moonves, however, was convinced it wasn’t a malfunction, but rather an intentional bid to stir up controversy. Moonves has been open about the fact that the incident caused him embarrassment, and he told sources who spoke to me that Jackson, in his mind, was not sufficiently repentant. |

The CBS chief executive, according to sources who spoke to me, was furious that Jackson didn’t make a similarly contrite apology to him. The fallout from the incident inflicted significant damage on Jackson’s career ― which until that point had produced 10 No. 1 hits ― and still reverberates to this day.
Moonves ordered Viacom properties VH1 and MTV, and all Viacom-owned radio stations, to stop playing Jackson’s songs and music videos. The move had a huge impact on sales of her album “Damita Jo,” which was released in March 2004, just a month after the Super Bowl. |

Seven years after the 2004 incident, Moonves told several sources he was furious when he found out Jackson had signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster for her book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself. Simon & Schuster is owned by the CBS Corporation.
“How the fuck did she slip through?” Moonves asked while recounting the story to a source who spoke to me. He told another source that heads were going to roll as a result of the deal. |

Insider information from an associate of mine's who sister works in production of The Talk.
The real reason that Julie hasn't shown up to work on 'The Talk' this week isn't necessarily because of the allegations against her husband, Les Moonves, but more because she feels betrayed by her fellow co-hosts on the show - specifically, Sharon Osbourne.
Julie was warned ahead of time prior to Monday's show that Sharon would be speaking out against Les and in support of the women and their allegations. Julie opted not to attend the premiere because she was too distraught and felt betrayed. Sharon was specifically asked by Julie and Les to speak out in support of him, which she did back when the first allegations against him surfaced earlier this summer. In return, Sharon was promised job stability and an increase in her pay raise. Given Les' was the head honcho, Sharon essentially felt backed into a corner and as if she was given no choice. We always have a choice, yes, but both Les and Julie can be incredibly convincing and conniving and know how to manipulate people into doing what they want. They've been doing it for years and are masters at it. Sharon went against her beliefs and better judgement out of fear, just as the many women accusing Les of all these horrific things stayed silent for so many years, also out of fear. Even now being resigned as CEO, Les still has quite a hold on the company and a say in what goes on there. If he wanted to snap his fingers and call for Sharon's firing, he could. Don't be fooled. He may be gone from the company on the outside looking in...but he's not, really.
The show is Sarah Gilbert's baby and creation, and she's (from what my sister says) looking into options of having it move to a different network, or even Netflix as their first live-streaming talk show. This is all very premature right now, but all of the other co-hosts are in agreement. As is the crew. No one wants to remain at CBS.
Also don't be surprised if Julie announces she's leaving the show within the next few weeks.

If the allegations in this lawsuit are true, Hallmark Channel could be in some big trouble. |
