Don't underestimate the work of April Phillips. Even at LMU, she was considered an ace recruiter. She did a superb job at Arizona and I'm sure she was an instrumental part in getting the Big 3 to Cal.

Good point. I think fans here are thrilled and recognize she’s played a big part.

https://bearinsider.com/s/1757/5-star-post-fatou-samb-becomes-first-building-block-in-talented-2020-cal-class

Also 5 star 6'3 post Michelle Onyiah commits....

Not a bad recruiting week for new HC Charmin Smith!

Charmin Smith continued her dominance on the recruiting trail by securing the commitment of 2020 F Dalayah Daniels of Garfield HS in Washington. Daniels is listed at 6-foot-4 and the 14th ranked prospect in the class of 2020.

Daniels is the third 5-star commit over the last week and also the highest rated. 5-star Fatou Samb (#53) kicked off the string off commitments on October 18th, followed by 5-star Ugonne “Michelle” Onyiah (#34) just yesterday, October 24th. What a start to Charmin Smith’s reign at Cal without even a single game played yet.

Maggie Besselink, a 6-2 guard/forward, has committed to Arizona State.

“The people sold me more than basketball or facilities,” the 17-year-old said on the Sun Devils website after committing. “They were so nice to me. I watched their practice and was in awe of how hard they worked, their communication and level of play. What you see is what you get. I love their personalities and how welcome they made me.”

She follows in the NCAA basketball footsteps of her uncle Gerry (University of Connecticut), aunt Mary-Jane (University of Hartford) and cousin Mary (Bryant University), and also has cousins playing basketball or running cross-country and track at other universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada.

One of her parents (mom) is her high school coach at Hamilton Heights -- which by the way is a top 5 team nationally.

Which has nothing to do with her name.

True ... thought it might be interesting, though. Maybe it isn't ...

it's an interesting name though...kind of like Aerial Powers, which was prophetic, anyway.

Well-this is insane to me. I mean, I live in Syracuse and have season tickets(yes, I still bleed UCONN blue), but I gotta support women's hoops in general.

This is huge on many levels:
1. The weather here SUCKS! The fact that she is coming this far north makes this win by Syracuse that much more impressive.
2. You have to think DMJ being an assistant coach now helped this immensely.
3. I hope she can put some butts in the seats, because Syracuse has to have the most abysmal P5 attendance of anyone.

I really cannot understand this. I guess Syracuse fans are solely focused on their men's team to the utter neglect of their women's team. It's appalling.

Has Kamilla ever been to Syracuse in the winter? I hope she's happy there, because it looks like Syracuse is building a very good program.

I've lived in northern New England and upstate NY most of my life, those areas are not exactly hot beds for basketball, and TBH, the only winter sport most fans care about is hockey, +/- the Celtics. It's not unusual for attendance at women's hockey games to be higher than that for women's basketball.

UConn has received a commitment from 2021 front court player Amari DeBerry. DeBerry is 6'5" and ranked 5th on ESPN and is the No 1 front court player in the class by ESPN.
