Team USA Exhibition

TV: NBA TV

Live stats:
https://www.usab.com/news-events/live-stats/2018/usa-wnt-japan.aspx

Team USA Roster
Tina Charles (New York Liberty)
Layshia Clarendon (Connecticut Sun)
Napheesa Collier (University of Connecticut)
Diamond DeShields (Chicago Sky)
Stefanie Dolson (Chicago Sky)
Allisha Gray (Dallas Wings)
Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever)
Tiffany Mitchell (Indiana Fever)
Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks)
Kelsey Plum (Las Vegas Aces)
Odyssey Sims (Los Angeles Sparks)
Morgan Tuck (Connecticut Sun)
Elizabeth Williams (Atlanta Dream)
A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces)

Team Japan Roster
(as of 5/2018)
Himawari Akaho
Sakura Akaho
Manami Fujioka* PG
Mika Fujitaka
Miyuki Kawamura
Rui Machida
Evelyn Mawuli
Yuki Miyazawa
Naho Miyoshi
Saki Mizushima* SG
Nako Motohashi
Moeko Nagaoka
Haruno Nemoto
Monica Okoye
Maki Takada
Ramu Tokashiki* C
Asami Yoshida

I don’t have a definitive Japan roster, just some info from May. Maybe awhom knows more? The * would be among their star players. They consider Tokashiki a center, so the USA posts should have fun with that. Japan was ranked #13 in the world as of a year ago, compared to #5 for Canada.

I don’t even have a definitive roster for the USA at the moment. It appears that Ionescu returned to Eugene OR, but I haven’t seen anything official on USA roster cut downs or adds at this point.

Sounds like something players do 20 years after they retire.

Clarendon has a bad habit of back passing to a big just after crossing midcourt. It often looks really close to an over and back, and what is she expecting a big to do with the ball out there anyway?

Tina takes too many bad shots. On a team like this she should be passing to someone more open instead of 18' fall aways or whatever. I guess she just got used to having no options with the Liberty, but it's a bad habit.

Japan has always been an entertaining team to watch. Not all that good, but always fun.

USA needs the A-team guards.

Mike T pretty much called out Diggins and C. Gray a few moments ago.

Basically said without naming names that some who didn't show up probably would have made it and solidified a spot going towards the Olympics and have probably lost that spot now to someone like Plum or Sims.

He was basically shocked that someone who had never made the team would pass up a chance to do so. Especially when there is clearly an opening or two in the back-court at PG.

yeah, unless they have an injury that we don't know about, I agree they SHOULD lose their spot on the Oly team. Which is too bad, because they should be part of the future for USA. But if they don't care enough to show up here, they don't deserve it.

Maya Moore was a terrible choice for this roundtable. She's literally just sitting there listening to the other two talk.

She's always been a bad interview, imo.

I wondered, in the dead thread, if she's ever done pbp before. It was clear early on that she was out of her element sitting on that side of the broadcast team.

I've sometimes wondered if she doesn't have one too many drinks before going on the air. Sometimes its not quite this bad.
