It's true, tho.

On what basis is it “true”?

Dallas isn't a new franchise. Anybody who believes that is on some bullshit.

Sorry pilight. The Dream did good w/o McCoughtry.

It took 13 years but Thibault is back in the finals.

I'm enough of a hater that I'm actually lowkey glad that Atlanta didn't make it to the Finals without McCoughtry. The only reason why I wanted the Dream to win at all is because so many Rebkellians wanted them to lose.

Congrats to Mystics. Not a bad season for the Dream, a team which someone described earlier this season as having one Superstar (now injured), one very good player and a bunch of role players.

Great to see EDD in the finals -- one of the few players I'd spend money and time to see in person, and have.

I kept thinking that Angel's head looks like something on top of an ice cream sundae.

Soccer is the only sport popular in Atlanta?

Have to give credit where it’s due, congrats to every Mystics player besides EDD (as a Sky fan you should know why I’m saying this LOL) and their fans. Well deserved.

College football is, and supposedly we have an NFL team. I don't follow either sport though.

Atlanta is a football town. I can't explain the soccer appeal.

Lots of kids too smart to play football played soccer here. Plus we have lots of people who come from other countries where soccer is popular. And the soccer team might have clue on how to get fans to show up for games. Even Dream players go to soccer games (and some of the soccer players were at a recent Dream game.)

Like you said - it is a football town... Both kinds Very Happy

I can. Huge and diverse built in fan base from a lot of locals who grew up playing soccer here and a nice international group.

The team is overall young and plays a very exciting style.

The energy is amazing - the crowd diverse across every imaginable demo and the whole thing is still kind of innocent.

The real key - Arthur blank hired an amazing team and they have done absolutely everything right... The blue print for launching a new product. Have not excluded anyone and have welcomed everyone. They market and market and market. Made a point to engage the local music peeps. It is the thing to do and the place to be.

As a fan you feel kinda special.

Oh - and we have won... Always helps when competing against college football which is still king.

Sure. I have long held the belief that soccer is a sport that is more fun to play than it is to watch, and I don't have the temperament to sit and watch other people play it. It is a distinctly 'un-American' sport, and Atlanta is a horrendous sports town, which is why I said I can't explain its popularity. Even your explanation comes across to me as, "Okay, I guess."

Football is a dumb sport, and I hate it, but I've at least lived in the south long enough that I get that it's a thing.
