Usually the way the playoffs work is Dells Donne's team goes down in flames while she sits in the sidelines with an injury.

A difficult game to watch, a difficult game to officiate, and an impressive performance by Washington to hang in there despite no EDD and essentially, no Toliver.
On the flip side, how did Atlanta not win this game by 20?

The Dream don't have that kind of offense. They've only got two 20+ point wins all season. One against Minnesota in the game where Brunson got hurt and Whalen was mostly resting, in which the Lynx only scored 66 points, and one at home against Indiana. They're not going to blow teams out.

Great info. Thanks ...

If anything, Atlanta's offense is what keeps opposing teams in the game: they are second-worst in the league in field goal percentage. Unless they have a 'blue moon' game where they catch fire from three-point range, they're not even a threat to blow teams out. They are, however, exceptionally good at winning close games: 13-2 combined record (regular and post season) in games decided by five points or less.
On the other hand, both of those losses came to the Mystics. On the other other hand, five of the six games between Atlanta and Washington were decided by five points or less, and Atlanta still managed to win the statistical majority of those, so...

Ugh, yes, that 0-120 finals record 🤤 (soon to 0-123 if you somehow pull out these last two) |
Wait, back up: a fan of literally the only active WNBA franchise that's never been to the Finals is talking shit about a team that's gone three times? That's a thing that's happening?
