Nah. It's far from over. We would have won both with Elena.

You had EDD for more than her usual minutes in Game 2 and still lost

Yeah but not in crunch time and her teammates were rattled by the injury

Sure. Unlike Mystics fans, we have a lot of experience with deep playoff runs.

Usually the way the playoffs work is Dells Donne's team goes down in flames while she sits in the sidelines with an injury.

You act like Washington was dominating the game instead of it being essentially tied when she left (EDD's presence wouldn't have affected Hayes making the FTs from the foul that stopped play for her to leave the court). The Mystics were fading fast again, thanks to minimal bench support, but unlike Game 1 they didn't have a cushion to play with. Maybe EDD would have pulled it out, but it's more likely that the final result would have been pretty much the same as it was.

Yes, losing by far the best player for the last 3 minutes of a close game matters. A lot. And we could also talk about how Hayes wouldn't be shooting those free throws if the floor wasn't shitty etc etc.

A difficult game to watch, a difficult game to officiate, and an impressive performance by Washington to hang in there despite no EDD and essentially, no Toliver.

On the flip side, how did Atlanta not win this game by 20?

The Dream don't have that kind of offense. They've only got two 20+ point wins all season. One against Minnesota in the game where Brunson got hurt and Whalen was mostly resting, in which the Lynx only scored 66 points, and one at home against Indiana. They're not going to blow teams out.

If anything, Atlanta's offense is what keeps opposing teams in the game: they are second-worst in the league in field goal percentage. Unless they have a 'blue moon' game where they catch fire from three-point range, they're not even a threat to blow teams out. They are, however, exceptionally good at winning close games: 13-2 combined record (regular and post season) in games decided by five points or less.

On the other hand, both of those losses came to the Mystics. On the other other hand, five of the six games between Atlanta and Washington were decided by five points or less, and Atlanta still managed to win the statistical majority of those, so...

:: shrug ::

Ugh, yes, that 0-120 finals record 🤤 Laughing (soon to 0-123 if you somehow pull out these last two)

No way. The dream didn't have an answer for her. We would have swept

I think the only one still around from back then is stuck on the bench... except maybe Hayes?

Hayes and Bentley were both on the 2013 finals team

Wait, back up: a fan of literally the only active WNBA franchise that's never been to the Finals is talking shit about a team that's gone three times? That's a thing that's happening?

Really. Down 2-1 in the semis is the closest they've ever been to a championship.
