The semifinal between the Chicago RedStars & North Carolina Courage scheduled for Cary, NC this Sunday is currently in doubt due to Hurricane Florence. All other sporting events in North & South Carolina this weekend have been cancelled or ppd. The lack of a commissioner for the past 18 months in the NWSL seems to indicate that no one within the league wants to make a decision and nothing from the Courage themselves seems to point towards the game being moved to another city or another date. The Red Stars were originally scheduled to fly to North Carolina tomorrow.

Game moved to Portland and will be played on Tuesday, September 18. Smart move by the league. Winning team will just stay in Portland as the final is in Portland.

Kind of screws over NC fans and to an extent the Courage as they won't have the home crowd behind them. Chicago was on the road anyway so it won't really effect them. The Red Stars' fans have a little longer trek to get to Portland for the semi.

Putting both semis in Portland looks okay, but the league could have kept the game on the east coast and put it in Orlando as Orlando City is on the road on the 16th.

A bit of a rock and a hard place, but it could have been done better.

Thanks for posting this as I tuned in last night and was confused why NC wasn’t hosting as the top seed. Is the location for the final predetermined?
