nah, just hard for rookies to get playing time. Don't think Miller was happy with either Anigwe or B Jones.

I really want to say that at first glance, Connecticut was the loser of this trade... but if Plaisance gives them that consistency from the bench, she could very well be the missing piece to the Sun getting a championship. Still, I think Anigwe will be missed sooner than they think..
Plaisance is supposedly signed through 2020 (in a 6-figure fully protected contract), so maybe this affects which free agents stay next year and which ones go.

BJones is still on the team. Did you mean Lexie Brown, or maybe Bridget Carleton?
He claims every player that goes through the Sun system has a bright WNBA future. Blah blah blah. I’m still curious why he hasn’t given Shaqator a shot.

I’m not necessarily referring to the state of Connecticut. I’m more so talking about playing time, location, players wanting to play closer to home, etc.._________________

Why not trade the 1st before the season instead of making a pick and lowering the player's value?

Because they thought the player they were going to draft would be better than what they've seen of that player in the months since she arrived. And/Or they didn't have any decent offers for the #9 pick. |

I like the move ...
There is such a thing as experience, and Plaisance is a professional. She can shoot threes reasonably well, so Connecticut can do the same things on offense with Plaisance in there as they do with Jonquel Jones, and Plaisance is reasonably physical.
There was no need to keep both Anigwe and Brionna Jones, and so Miller decided he either a) could get more for Anigwe, b) liked Jones better or c) both.
This is the kind of deal you make when you want to win a title right now ...

So with this trade, the Sun can be more like...themselves? Is that the gist of it? Well, I thought the Sun needed more of what Anigwe offered in order to be a serious contender.
I like Plaisance, and she def adds the stretch aspect, but I'm not sold that that's what CT needs.
I hated the B. Jones pick back in the day and still do. Anigwe can at least run, jump, board and defend.

Connecticut Sun look to make extended stay in 2019 WNBA playoffs
Mechelle Voepel (espnW.com)
Quote: |
When taking over the Connecticut Sun in 2016, coach Curt Miller figured 2019 could be a big year for the franchise. He thought success would come before then, and it has. But his long-range plan was about building a core -- and the accompanying chemistry -- that could contend for a championship. It's a process that takes some time.
Now in the stretch run of 2019, a season largely impacted by injuries and absences, the playoffs could be excitingly unpredictable. And, as Miller hoped, the Sun are right in the thick of things. |

Or they could finish third and get bumped in a one-game playoff, yet again. |
