Very interesting signing. I thought Dallas did well to draft her and I’m curious why it didn’t work out.

...especially since Dallas could use a PG this year.

Sorry if I missed this, but is Goodwin's contract a training camp contract or something else?

I'm sure it's not, but it'd be freaking hilarious if the Fever fired their head coach/GM on the morning of the draft.

SalesForce marketing exec to be present at the press conference. Why wouldn't it be a sponsorship deal being announced? #Theworlddoesn'trevolvearoundLiz.

If you saw Goodwin during pre-season it was obvious why she did not make the roster last season . Surprised no one has addressed Chong. Not Dallas but at least another W team .

See if you can get a photo (and maybe a little inside scoop, though with Liz, her stated intentions could change rapidly).

It's good to know that the WIngs Fans' "GoFundME" account for Liz has allowed her to escape from her recent brush with poverty enough to allow her attend coachella.

Nothing. Magic doesn't own the Lakers, he was just working for them. He quit before they could fire him.

LA Sparks Ownership:
Sparks LA Sports, LLC (represented by Mark Walter, Magic Johnson, Stan Kasten, Todd Boehly and Bobby Patton)

And as pilight noted, Magic Johnson is part of the ownership group of the Sparks, and the WNBA franchise is no longer owned by the Lakers. He was an employee/executive of the Lakers, unrelated to his ownership of the Sparks.

Sparks right now(minus Gray since she isn't re-signed):

PG: Sims/Salvadores/Goodwin
SG: Beard/Wiese/Mabrey
SF: Ruffin-Pratt/Samuelson
PF: Parker/Vadeeva/Walker
C: Ogwumike/Lavender/Brown/Hollivay

Come on, now. Either you’re pulling our collective legs, or all this is just a Chinese promotional agenda. Every team is signing a Chinese player? A Chinese player that didn’t really deserve a draft invite gets a draft invite. The Chinese player that got the draft invite made it known she may not play for a couple years, that is until she gets drafted by the new Chinese owner. Then the story changes. The Chinese national team is touring the USA by playing in some preseason games, which will be interesting if most of the team is getting signed by WNBA teams. Did I leave anything out?

Why is LA not doing anything re Cambage? Are they still trying to get her. There has been nothing posted re that and why have they not signed Gray.

It's likely to make the cap gymnastics around a hypothetical Cambage trade easier (because even if they finally do get a deal done with Dallas, something to dump Lavender and/or Sims might have to be done simultaneously with someone else). Any negotiations are probably finished, they're just holding off on the actual signature because it maintains flexibility. It's probably also the reason that Riquna Williams is still unsigned anywhere.

Of course, at some point they'll have to either get the trade done or give up on it and sign those contracts that are sitting and waiting.

I have to imagine if the trade is to happen, it'll be before preseason begins. More or less because of re-signing Gray(& maybe Williams). But, IMO, they can let Williams walk and go with this:

PG: Gray/Sims/Goodwin*
SG: Beard/Wiese*/Mabrey*
SF: Ruffin-Pratt/Samuelson
PF: Parker/Vadeeva
C: Ogwumike/Lavender/Brown
*battle for 11th/12th spot, one gets cut.

Sucks for Brown if this sticks as she's likely to be glued to the bench.

If they do trade Gray for Cambage, the backcourt will struggle to keep up offensively in this league. With Liz and Nneka on the floor, Parker would essentially be a full time guard at this point, but Sims and Beard are both questionable as scorers.

The word was that the Sparks had an offer on the table that would have sent Vadeeva and the first this year and next for Cambage. They then rescinded that offer feeling that Dallas now has less leverage.

It seems to me once Dallas did not grab one of the Bigs and Brown fell to the Sparks, they felt they could do better. Dallas probably thought they could always grab that first offer but now that LA has Brown and Dallas is still in real need of a big with no draft left to get one, LA probably feels that now they can remove either Brown ( 1st pick ) or Vadeeva from that first offer. Perhaps even substituting Lavender for one of them.

Dallas should have drafted Brown, but instead took Arika Ogunbawale thinking they would get a center from LA in a trade. Now they have nothing. Gustafson is a forward not a center. There was an interview with the Wings owner and he seemed shocked that the deal with LA did not go through.

Dallas should have drafted Brown? Minnesota should have drafted her. How many teams are smart to pass on 6’7? Now if Collier doesn’t work out at PF, the Lynx are overloaded at SF, especially ones that aren’t that great at the three.

Her best work is close to the basket. I’d say she’s pretty centerish.
