No. It's what's known as 'complete nonsense'.

LA would be idiots to not match. Gray's a top 3 PG in the league and probably will be for several years.

Gray loves LA. They just need to drop Lavender to be able to sign her. As stated they would not sign Sims if it meant not being able to sign Gray. In respect to the big three, Gray, Parker, Nneka-- Factoring in age, remaining upside, and what they bring to the team, Gray might actually be the most difficult to replace. I could be wrong, but it seems like Gray has forgone overseas this off season. I think that should be what every player should do every now and then. This year round grind will wear you down.

If it came down to a choice between Gray and Sims- there is no choice. But I don't believe it was ever down to a choice between the the two. I suspected they always intended on signing Sims. She is a good fit for LA, because she can play the two and fill in at the one.

Or it might be that they already have an agreement in place with Sims if they made her part of a Dallas trade. Now you might ask why Sims would agree to go to Dallas? Well if she wanted to be the starting point Dallas is the place she could prove not only start but be a main focus of the offense at least for one year. As long as she had the option of approving trades in place she could then pick the team she was traded to when Diggins returns next season. Of course she would be gambling on herself, But it would seem that she might see Dallas as an opportunity to rectify unfulfilled business. She would certainly get more playing time in Dallas. She would also never make an all star team on a loaded LA roster.

Still LA has a new coach and one never knows a new coaches mind set.

Sims was nor will she ever be apart of any trade scenario to Dallas just to clarify this for anyone who still thinks she was or will be .

It seems like the likely trade scenario for Dallas would be Cambage for Vadeeva, the #7 pick and Dallas's 2020 first rounder.

Let’s see how that works out.

$440K for 5 currently signed players
That leaves about
$550K for 7 more players = $78,570/player
$550K for 6 more players = $91,670/player

$550,000
$115,000 CGray
$435,000 for 5 or 6 more players
$110,000 Beard
$325,000 for 5 more players = $65,000/player
$325,000 for 4 more players = $81,250/player
+$44,300 credit for Vadeeva
$369,300 for 5 or 6 players
..$43,000 est cost of Samuelson
$326,300 for 4 or 5 players
$115,000 Sims
$211,300 for 3 or 4 players
$115,000 Cambage
$96,300 for 2 or 3 players

Scratch what I did before. I just noticed I took Gray out twice.
That’s what I get for trying to do this on the phone. Confused

Looks like 12 players aren’t possible at these salaries, but 2 additional inexpensive players to get to 11 is very doable.

One way the league could prevent players from going to the best teams to chase championships is to require each team to sign 12 players instead of giving the option for 11.

Also, they should stipulate that the off season bonus be used as an actual bonus, instead of being additional non-cap money to help avert salary cap issues.

$18,700 for 1 or 2 players
$43,000 need one more cheap player to fill roster to 11 (bye bye Carson and RWilliams)
$61,700
$54,000 I believe Gray isn’t playing overseas, so entire off season bonus to help divert cap issue
$7,700

All they’d have to do is ask Gray to sign for $107,300 and take $54,000 of that in the form of off season bonus. This is assuming a team salary cap of $990,000. If the cap is actually higher, then it’s more amenable. If the cap is lower, ouch.

Trading Lavender instead of Vadeeva would be less messy.

Thanks for the breakdown! I wish they would stop playing and sign Gray already! Confused Laughing We need Beard too but I'm not so worried about her bc in the past , she's told them to sign everyone else first and then work her in. Btw, I think Gray went overseas in recent weeks, right after the Women's Drew League championship.

Scratch a lot of that. I noticed that I counted Gray twice, so it’s not as bad as I thought.

Signed before the season
$117,500 Parker
$115,000 Ogwumike
$115,000 Lavender
.$47,800 Wiese
.$43,400 Vadeeva
$438,700

Signed so far this season
$115,000 Sims

$158,000

$110,000 Beard (est)
$115,000 Cambage
$115,000 CGray (est)
$340,000 Hi-pri signings (est)

Trading Vadeeva
$936,700
-$43,400 Vadeeva
$893,300 for 9 players

Trading Lavender
$936,700
$115,000 Lavender
$821,700 for 9 players

$990,000 salary cap est
$893,300 Salary w/Vadeeva trade
.$96,700 for 2 players

$990,000 salary cap est
$821,700 Salary w/Lavender trade
$168,300 for 2 or 3 players

Once Cappie left for Indiana last season, Sparks played with only 11 anyways. Of course they have a new coach now, so things may change.

C'mon now if Shades didn't post what would we all talk about. It's not like we all don't try to initiate stuff every now and then and none are innocent in that respect.

I also never thought Sims would OK a trade to Dallas, but rather I just came up with a highly speculative scenario which bordered on the realm of possibility

Problem with trading Vadeeva is that she might not report to Dallas. I think one of the reasons she lasted so long in the draft was because teams knew she was picky about who she was ready to play for- LA being one of the teams.

LA just needs to find some one to take Lavender off their hands for a future pick and they pretty much solve their cap problems. Of course Beard might decide it's time to hang it up. Her game did drop last season. I noticed even if others did not. She was not really as lock down anymore.

I wonder what Penny has up her sleeve. 🤔🤔🤔
Gray needs to be signed, like yesterday, but I'm not too worried. Penny knows how long it took for us to get a quality/elite PG and i dont epect her to do anything crazy lol. I hope we can get Liz and trade Lavendar somehow. Liz might end up being like Anthony Davis and not getting traded at all. Will Liz sit if she's not traded? We're also going to miss Carson as well. Hope we can het a shooter or two.
