Has their championship window closed? Is Candace going to request a trade? Is Beard going to retire? Should the Sparks move on from Carson, Lavender, Sims, and Williams? Is Vadeeva coming back to the states next season? So many questions.

I hope and pray Chiney request a trade to play with her sister, first and foremost. But it's probably highly unlikely since ESPN studios are in Bristol, CT.... But let's just say IF.....

1. DRAFT Arike Ogumbowale with the 6th pick
2. TRADE Essence Carson, Jantel Lavender, and Odyssey Sims to the Connecticut Sun for Layshia Clarendon and Chiney Ogwumike
3. WAIVE Karlie Samuelson
4. RE-SIGN Ana Dabovic, and Mariana Tolo

DEPTH CHART:
PG: Chelsea Gray / Layshia Clarendon
SG: Riquna Williams / Arike Ogumbowale
SF: Candace Parker / Ana Dabovic / Sydney Wiese
PF: Nneka Ogwumike / Maria Vadeeva
C: Chiney Ogwumike / Mariana Tolo

I doubt Curt Miller, or anybody who isn't incompetent, would get rid of a superstar for that little, even if she wants to play elsewhere. Now maybe if Cheryl Reeve was the coach/GM of the Sun, she would give the Sparks Chiney for a 2nd round pick, at most, but most teams don't give away superstars for virtually nothing. Smile Plus I believe Carson is a pending free agent.

Chiney Ogwumike is a "superstar"? The same Chiney Ogwumike who scored two points off the bench last night?

It's not like he would have a choice.

They can let Lavender go and develop Vadeeva. Bring Tolo back. I'm wondering if Beard retires. Carson should stay as should Sims.

PG: Gray/Sims
SG: Williams/Wiese
SF: Carson/#6 pick/Samuelson
PF: Ogwumike/Tolo
C: Parker/Vadeeva

Zellous would be an ideal fit on this team.

Except that the Sparks aren't subject to the same rules as the rest of the league

Sims has more trade value than Wiese. At least do a sign and trade.
While you're dreaming, might as well sign Maya and Fowles and maybe Diggins-Smith too.

I chuckled the first 213,546,324 times you said that. Now it's just kind of obnoxious, tbh. Lol. New material, please.

His argument got rather strengthened when Sims took a contract 2-3 years shorter and 50 grand per year less than she could've received on the open market this offseason.

This being Minnesota, Reeve will probably draft the Jonny Flynn of this draft, and the Sparks will end up with Stephen Curry. Smile

No reason it couldn't be Nneka demanding a trade to the Sun so she can get her foot in the at ESPN with her sis. Razz

Not unless she’s willing to work for less than Carson is willing to work for... and Carson knows the system.

Wait, ESPN has the power to make trades in the WNBA? Chiney can always get another broadcasting job.

I think he’s saying Chiney wouldn’t demand a trade because ESPN is headquartered in Bristol, CT. But the network also operates offices in Miami, New York City, Seattle, Charlotte, and Los Angeles.

LA doesn't have the 6th pick. They have the 7th pick.
Dallas - 5
Minnesota - 6
LA - 7

How about

Draft Anigwe at #7 (I guess I should give up on her being available at #14 for NY)
Trade Lavender for Copper (Chi needs PF and some experience, Copper seems like odd woman out as Deshields and G. Williams develop. And Copper seems like a good fit all around SF with 3 and D skills to compliment the stars LA already has at it's other position. Sort of Carson 2.0).
Sign steady 3rd string PG like Chong
Keep Russian connection strong by adding Musina

Gray/Chong
R. Williams/Sims
Carson/Copper/Weise
N. Ogwumike/Vadeeva/Musina
Parker/Anigwe

End up going 8 deep in the playoffs with Chong, Weise, Musina and Anigwe as the cheering section on the bench.

He started this season with Cappie Pondexter and Riquna Williams on his roster. If the talent's there he seems to back himself to convince people to pass.

Cappie is a good comparison but not Requina, in fact that is why she got waived Laughing
